Post subject:  Wharfedale Active Sub Evpx18pb loose Dust Cap Pics! help

Hi everyone,

Im new here, I live in Santiago Chile, South America.

Im looking for some help because the dust cap on my EVPX18PB seems to become loose, and distorition sounds at higher volumes.

I seems as the glue around it melted. Its never been fixed or anything before.[/img]

I saw a topic about this but its locked, another user had the same problem but I cant send him a PM.

Has anybody had this problem with a not so used SUB?

Thanks

The distortion is air fluttering through your loose threading between the cone and the dust cap at higher compressions.

Sounds like you are going to have to have it reconed. Is it still under warranty? You might be able to re-glue it, but the problem is going to be cronic. Reconing a speaker like that could cost your as little as $40-50 U.S. if you do it yourself or up to $100-150+ U.S. if you take it to the shop.

If you can't do it yourself (I know I couldn't properly), then you may be better off just buying a complete new LF driver, which is very easy to install.

The EVPX18P LF driver is 400 watts RMS.

You could put a Eminence Delta Pro 18" LF driver in that box for about $120.00 US. The specs are relatively close.
