These items allow you to plug any XLR dynamic mic in and make it wireless. The Azden 200XT is VHF, and is cheaper ($200.00 or so). The Samson AX300 Airline Synth is UHF and more expensive ($400.00). I just saw the Samson in action last week. It seemed to work really well. Has anyone used that or the Azden VHF, and if so do you have any comments? If you have only seen someone use it, chime in too. |

I own the Samson. I just got the Airline Synth and to be honest I would be afraid to put it on a mic for a show unless I trusted the singer. Not because it doesn't do a good job, but because it's plastic and feels fragile. I can just see the pieces flying the first time it gets dropped. Great idea, just poor construction. That said, I also own the Airline 77 system and it's great! While only a single channel, rather than multi channel like the Airline Synth, the AX1 transmitter is all metal and sturdy. I'm using two of them plugged into Sennheiser 835's and they sound great even after having been dropped a couple of times. Battery life is about 14 hrs on a single AAA battery. Cost for the Airline 77 system is between $225 and $300 depending on where you get them. My KJ mic is the Airline 77 headset system where the AH1 transmitter is actually part of the headset. It's small, light and best of all NO wires or belt pack. Great for hands free operation. I've been all over the bar and even out to the back smoking area without drop outs. |

I see the 77 for headset and instruments, but haven't seen the mic transmitter. Still don't see it after looking for a while -- wait, there it is at Sam Ash. Thanks for the lead. This looks like a winner compared to the Azden -- I would be worried about such dropouts with VHF. |

I had a similar item made by AKG a few years ago. Worked great with my SM58, but was too fragile for karaoke use. One good drop, and it was finished. A metal casing would have made a huge difference. |
