Buy new mains and re-purpose one of your EONs as a floor monitor?

I am currently not looking to replace my mains. I am quite happy with them, and they have lasted me a few years now. Great speakers. Now, I was looking for something a little smaller than the JBLs. Thanks for the tips.

I have a Fender 1270P powered monitor that is excellent as a singer's monitor. The only thing to watch out for it that you should run it on a separate channel, if possible, and cut the bass, as this monitor has a 10" woofer and won't like it if you have it trying to reproduce the same output as the mains.

I have mine hooked into a 3 way setup through a crossover (the crossover of the DBX Driverack), and just feed it frequencies above 120 Hz.

You should be able to find this powered monitor new for about $175 or used for about $100. I've had mine for about 4 years and it is still rockin!

Not sure how you can get by with 175 watt mains, must be a small venue. If you are bound to keep using these as mains, I would look on ebay or craigslist and get a decent used main. I personally use my behringer 215a. More than enough power, a bit heavy but I already owned it and it fits in my trailer easily son weight not a big issue. I looked at hotspots in person, I just don't think they are enough for a "karaoke experience".

IMO those "hot spots" are all pretty terrible. The ones I have seen also do not look terribly durable. We all know that karaoke can be an abusive environment for gear on the stage.

You've obviously never dealt with an acoustic or jazz trio stuffed in the corner of some swanky bar. In the right application (i.e. a place where floor wedges will be way to space consuming and LOUD) the little hot spots are killer. From what the OP described, that's how I picture his situation.

Hi all! I am looking for a decent floor monitor for my rig. I run two JBL EON G2 175 Watt Speaker off a Mackie ProFX 8, and need a good monitor for my singers. Any sugesstions? Thanks!

I use a sub and because they are omnipresent have found JBL EON10 G2 really good. (recommended by Karaoker)

Smaller the JBL EON10? That is a pretty small speaker, how small are you looking to go? Well if you just want some sound coming back at the singer take a look at the Galaxy Hot Spot. http://www.zzounds.com/item--GXYPA6S

It's my monitor and at 100 watts, plenty of power for singers. I don't worry about the woofer on it personally. The singer just wants to hear the music and themselves so they can be on tune without shouting to hear themselves. It's pretty light and portable. I just plug it in to my 1/4" mono output from my A&H mixer directly to the input and adjust the volume on the speaker itself. Easy setup.

Ok I am probably going to get flamed for this, but I use a little Gemini GX-801 powered speaker for a floor monitor. It is durable ABS, sounds pretty good for a monitor (not much bass response of course), and it is easy to move around. It has a 250w (max) amp in it, and it is a 2 way system. No, it is not going to win any sound quality awards, but it does the job. In a pinch for a super-small house party, you could even use this for a main. It usually runs for between $95 - $130 delivered.

Although I cannot see running a show with only a 10" main. My monitors are bigger than that. The Hot Spots are good for small spaces that cannot accomodate a regular floor model. They aren't too bad. I wouldn't place them in a spot that could support a floor wedge.

My JBLs have lasted me for three years, and I have filled dive bars and wedding halls with them. As far as the floor monitor goes, the Fender looks like a great choice! Thanks for the heads up!
