There's quite a few of us that have been doing this 10+ years. We had a retro fad in the late 90's. Swing made a comeback, and Elvis and was being sung in every karaoke bar across the country.

I don't see Elvis ever being sung anymore. Ever. It makes me sad because I love Elvis.

Elvis is in our building several times a night. Quality arguments aside, getting the MM Velvet Elvis series on sale made a lot of singers happy. They like working their way through the more obscure songs. But I had one tell us that out of the over 500 Elvis songs we have, he couldn't find the one he wanted to sing.

We don't have a lot of Elvis sung right now everywhere, but there is always a little. Can't Help Falling in Love and Little Sister are the two most popular right now.

Our most reliable Elvis practitioner is a 16-year old with a big voice. 8-)

Haven't had a lot of Elvis sung for years - even then it was only a few songs from some of the old school singers. Rarely the occasion i'll hear the Oakenfeld remix of Rubberneckin or Can't Help Falling In Love (both from the same person early 30's). Last night someone had put is Love Me Tender but changed it before he sang it as the crowd was into heavier rock and pop. He put in Kryptonite instead.

He is alive and kicking in the UK.
Maybe I phrased that wrongly.

Our singers were 10 or younger when Elvis died. Someone tells them they sound like him and I guess they feel obligated. A few do the whole thing with doing shows in costumes (not at karaoke) and entering competitions. One has a full Elvis in black leather suit tattooed on his forearm. We have one who says he would feel disreectful to Elvis by trying to "be" him so he just sings the songs. Some really just appreciate the music.

I was never a fan.
I lived in Liverpool.
I had the Beatles et al.

There is however a really good reason he was called

THE KING.

Elvis performed nightly here at least once.

There's a few songs referencing hawaii and it's beaches and hula.

MM's Velvet elvis is mostly used, but the favorite is the PX brand of professional backing tracks.

A Little Less Conversation, Rock A Hula, Beach Boy Blues, Viva Las Vegas, and Blue Hawaii are the most performed songs.

I hand out Elvis Glasses to most singers. This gets them in the mood and they usually end up doing some elvi-moves. :D

Jian must be in the Elvis capital of the world. At least he has the most colorful Elvi.

Interesting to watch video clips of him, like from Viva Las Vegas. He was pretty light on his feet.

I got the Velvet Elvis set a year or so ago when I bought my Pioneer system off someone going out of the business and I never bothered to add it to my regular system or my rental system. My thought at the time was,"Just how much Elvis does a person need?".
I can't think of anytime in the last three years that anyone has sung anything by Elvis, but while updating my books and adding new collections I recently purchased, I decided that it wouldn't hurt to add it, instead of having it gather dust. There are songs in there that you can't get anywhere else.
I may just try a few myself.
