Hi,

What are the best, reasonably priced karaoke machines for home use? I want to buy one for my girlfriend for her birthday.

Thanks!

Are you looking for those all-in-one machines or a PA system?

I don't need a PA. It's just for use at home. I just need something that will play karaoke CDs with lyrics on a screen and, hopefully, allow for key adjustment and vocals elimination. I can use my own amp and speakers if need be.

Are all karaoke CDs the same format? In other words, if a karaoke CD plays and puts up lyrics on one system, will it work on other systems?

Thanks!

heres two good options
http://www.guitarcenter.com/RSQ-NEO-NK- ... 1424930.gc
this one is made by jvc which is what most pros will use so good and will do everything you want it to

or
http://www.guitarcenter.com/VocoPro-DVX ... 1446260.gc
definately made for home use, personally not had the best luck with vocopro gear, but many other people have used them and do just fine.

there are different formats (cd+g, scdg, dvd) but any decent player can handle them all. just look for one that says multi-format.

JVC hasn't made anything for RSQ since the triple tray days.

My girls use an older model of this that works pretty good:

When I first started karaoke, I used my home system. Then my brother told me about the Yamaha Stagepas 300. Its very portable and sounds a million times better than a home system. You might want to give that a try. They sell it at Guitar Center if you are near one. You can always return it.

We have been using RSQ for about 3+ years and have had mixed results. Faster load times than most. Have had 2 of 3 fail. Customer service was better than average but I did not see any association with JVC on the box or otherwise. For the price ($200) I will continue to buy them as it seems nobody makes a very good player anymore. The service contact info and address on product packaging is:

Paola A. Pounds
Customer Service Rep.
RSQ Mediasync Corp.
13855 Redwood Ave. Bldg. C
Chino, Ca. 91710
(909) 287-0609 ext. 202
(909) 287-0699 Fax

The NEO+G format is not a widely used format and only works with these RSQ players. It is similar to the CAVS player that can play SCDG discs. Both allow for 100+ or even 1000+ karaoke tracks on a single disc.
