I was playing around with Compuhost at home the other night and played around with changing the hardware support mode from Dx to Standard. After doing that I ran Sound Choice's "The Green Green Grass of Home" from the computer (ripped from my legal Foundation set) and observed that a logo saying something to the effect of "unlicensed version of Power Karaoke powerkaraoke.com" started floating all over the performer screen while the song was playing. The logo went away when I restored the hardware support mode back to DX.
I'm rather puzzled by the implications of all this, but perhaps someone else will have some insight as to the exact cause of such a thing? Some disturbing possibilities come to mind, but I guess there could be other legitimate software related reasons that for such a thing?
Anyone else ever try this?
Simple, as discussed and explained on their forums, the makers of CompuHost (Invicion) licensed the lyrics engine utilized in the Standard - Legacy mode from PowerKaraoke, just as Karma uses. However, Invicion went on to develop their own, and substantially more efficient lyrics engine that's used in the DX -Enhanced Mode. Their engine uses more advanced technology and therefore relies on the computer being capable of supporting the technology. Most of today's computers will support the DX engine just fine, but for those that don't, they elected to make the Legacy option available. As for the banner, it sounds like the licensing may not have registered properly on your computer, you might want to try reinstalling the latest version of CH, I just tested Legacy mode on my computer (I never really use Legacy) and no such banner appears.
