We have a disc based karaoke setup and use 2 RSQ NEO players. Aside from 1 or 2 discs that came with the Player we don't use NEO format.

I recently picked up a set of Chartbuster E1-E6 SCDGs. The SCDG format will not play in the RSQ players. I ripped them to MP3+G with Roxbox and burned them to CD/R disk, fitting 6 SCDG set onto 19 CD/Rs. One RSQ player would not read the MP3G discs at all. The other displayed two files for each song (MP3 and CDG). Selecting either file played the karaoke music with graphics. Unfortunately, most tracks had hiccups or pauses in the audio tracks. If played on my pc they worked flawlessly.

I'm guessing that the older RSQ was not designed to play MP3G format from disc. Does anyone know what players will play MP3G directly from disc? I think I read on this board that VGO plus will. Any others?

Thanks for any input.

I use a cavs 203g player to play customers discs and music videos. Slow loading but i love it since it has numeric buttons on the face of the unit and i don't have to use the remote.

I too purchased the Cb 1-6 disc set for a potential very small dive-bar gig down the street. Small investment for a decent amount of songs. Aloha! -john

OOPs...sorry Kona...just reread your topic and realised i didn't help any lol!

The cavs 203g player i use WILL play burned mp3gs flawlessly as well as music videos and regular cds.

The player also has key changes on the front of the unit. Very reliable and like $260 the last time i checked.

Geesh....i'm tired today! Aloooooooooha!

Thanks for the update on the CAVS 203 player. I guess that would play the SCDG discs as well. I have not noticed a difference in sound quality, and yes I believe they are 128K. I am able to play the discs on my PC as they are advertised as PC compatible. Price was was cheap due to discontinued mfg. and SCDG format not doing well.

I purchased a new RSQ that claims to support MP3+G from disc. The non NEO supported player was $125 new. Been pretty happy with the other RSQ players. Not thrilled, but fast load times and decent customer service.

Mahalo!
