Hi. I'm a home karaokeist who's Vocopro DVD duet recently went on the blink. I'm looking for a new machine, probably an all in one, but one a little better than the duet. I've been looking at the rsq festival, the vocopro champion rv, and the audio 2000 akj7808. The vocopro seems to have the most features of these three, however because my duet broke before I thought it should, I'm a little leery of vocopro. Are all of the systems going to break? Is one of the above companies products more reliable? Should I be looking at other systems? What I'm looking for is a system that has good voice quality, to be used at home - possibly for parties one day, that will last for a while and is between 500 - 1000 dollars. I am not against putting a system together, I don't need an all in one necessarily. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

The $600-800 these machines cost is a pretty healthy budget for a home karaoke machine. You are going to find that anything that has the word "karaoke" in the marketing is going to be twice the price and half the quality of a comparable PA system. Depending on how important the "all in one" aspect is for you, you could get a REALLY good portable PA and separate karaoke CDG player that are both going to be much much better than those all-in-one systems for around the same price. If I had $800.00 to work with, I'd probably get a Yamaha Stagepass http://www.americanmusical.com/Item--i- ... Sorry to hear your Vocopro Duet broke. I've had mine since 2003 and it's never given me a problem. Nevertheless, you asked for a recommendation, and here's mine: The RSQ Echo Star, 200 W, all-in-one, triple tray. http://www.atechglobal.com/players/TMP1axbse26w5.htm I've had mine since 2005 and it's been great. I use both my Vocopro Duet and RSQ EchoStar for home parties, and even for smaller gigs where it's in a living room and the EV SxA300's on speaker stands would be overkill. I think RSQ has replaced the EchoStar with a similar, b[/url]ut NEO-G compatible, unit. |

No offence, kjbob, but that RSQ unit is just an RSQ 333 integrated with a 50 watt/channel amp @ 8 ohms and some crappy 4 or 5" woofers. You could put those three components together separately for about $250, yet they are charging $539.00 for two buzz words: "all-in-one" and "karaoke." For $539.00, you could get a good single-tray karaoke player, a good small-format powered mixer at about 150-200 watts/channel, and two decent 10-12" PA speakers. 3-4X nore wattage, tons more bass reponse, upgrade flexibility. The difference in sound quality would be night and day. So, the poster needs to decide which is more important, sound quality, or the "all-in-one" aspect. If it were my choise, I would go with the better sound quality with a small PA. Even though it is not going to be "all-in-one," a small PA will still be highly portable. |

And no offense taken Topher. I know your separate components will sound better than my RSQ all-in-one, but for the small living room type gathering the RSQ sound is "good enough" for the casual singer. Per the OP he's looking for an all-in-one that's a little better than his broken Duet, and I've side-by-side my Duet and my RSQ and it's definitely better, sonically as well in other aspects, so it would fit his requirement. And the convenience of pick-up-and-go with minimal cable connection and other set up time makes it attractive for me, for the right audience/setting, like home or friend's casual karaoke gathering. But yes, if you're willing to take time to source and set-up the separate components, your recommendation is also sound. |
