Karaoke Forums

Hello there, new user here. I recently found out this forum and was hoping I could call on the collecive knowledge on here to help guide me in building a karaoke set up for my home.

My karaoke needs are fairly moderate: 2 or 3 karaoke parties a month, from 4 to 10 people. Space is around 16'x25'x8' although the entertainment section is probably 16'x14'x8. As you can see, pretty moderate needs. My source will be my HTPC and I currently have a Pioneer VSX-1120-k a/v reciever. What kind of setup should I be looking at? The HTPC will be connected to the reciever via HDMI which passes through video as well as audio. The receiver has some pre-outs, can I use those to connect to a mixer or should I set up a SpeakerA/B situation or just do HDMI to the receiver and then audio outs to the mixer?

As far as equipment, what would you guys suggest for my modest needs? What size speakers should I be looking at? Powered mixers vs mixer and powered PA speakers. Should I be looking at something like the Yamaha Stagepas 300 or should I go separate and get a basic mackie or behringer mixer?
