I thought I had this figured out,but I was so wrong. I have a Toshiba laptop and run Karma for my hosting program. I pluged in my s-video cable to the laptop and the other end into a converter box so I could plug in my RCA video cable to the box and the other end to the TV. I'm pretty confident my conections are right but NO pic on external monitor. My computer says it is not detecting another monitor. I don't know how to fix on computer. Do I need to do somethig special. I can plug in my VGA cable to my TV and computer and it works why doesn't s-vedio cord? I thought they did the same thing. My show monitor only has RCA video input and a coaxle cable input. Any suggestion please. |

Have you set windows up to feed a second monitor in display properties? |

More often than not by making sure your converter box and TV are powered on before booting up your laptop will solve the problem...sometimes Windows will not recognize a converter box & second monitor that is turned on after the laptop is booted up. |

Control panel.... then Display.....make sure 2nd monitor is set up on xp.......or for win7 out to projector, or other choices.....maybe you already did this, sorry just checking since win7 is a bit different.......source switch on coverter box....power on coverter box.....right hookups on converter/sources out/sources in......tv/monitor input source.....channel 3/4, video 1/2/3/other |

another thought,,,, i had this happen a couple of times. I bought an s-video cable that was "directional", it only worked one direction. When I figured that out, I then replaced the darn thing with a normal one. Just a thought. |

I don't hassle with any kind of box.. I just use a svideo to composite (rca) adapter for instances when i'm plugging into a house video system. Not sure what OS you're running.. but on Windows XP, just right click on the desktop, go down to 'properties' and click on the second monitor and tick the box that says 'extend my desktop to this monitor' or words to that effect, and provided the monitor is on, it should kick on as soon as you click 'apply'. |

You have to click on settings first before you see the second monitor screen |
