My name is Donn Weinberg, and I'm a new member of KS and this forum. I live in Maryland. I was a member several years ago, but stopped after about a year when I got too busy to keep up. I'm 56, married, two adult kids, and one grandchild. I'm a trial attorney by training and practiced law for 15 years. Since 1993, I've been an executive at a charitable foundation. I started singing karaoke when I turned 40, first with classic rock, and later with "Great American Songbook" tunes mostly from Frank Sinatra. I've since expanded my repetoire to include Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Sammy Davis Jr., Mel Torme', and others. In 2007, I started performing publicly at senior centers and senior living facilities. I've been performing for seniors since, as they really appreciate the types of songs I sing. I've done two volunteer gigs (using karaoke instrumental backup) for nonprofit fundraisers in NYC, and I've got two more scheduled for 2011. If any of you comment on my posted performances, I would appreciate total honesty, as I'm trying to improve my singing. You won't hurt my feelings or make me defensive if you give me constructive suggestions or comments. I really mean this. Thanks. |
