Someone gave me Taylor Swifts Karaoke CD/DVD (the actual Taylor Swift one) which I'd like to know is there a way to rip and convert it to cdg. I believe the karaoke tracks are on the DVD. Not sure if they are avi files or what but how can I or can I convert them to zipped cdg files and what to use.

Thanks.

You have to get the audio tracks from the DVD into WAV format and then use one of the many karaoke producing programs to create the CDG files for the songs. It usually takes between one and two hours for each song to get it done right.

The cd is a cdg. when playing it in a regular cd player are the vocals heard? If not rip it as you would a cd+G with either audiograbber or my favorite CDGRip.
I've got the Fearless album and that is what I did.

I can rip it to a zip file (cdg + mp3), and it will play the audio but no graphics. Graphics don't show up. Tried it with Power CD+G burner and CDG Rip. I have no clue why. This is the new one called Speak Now. And this is the error message that CDG Rip gave me. Even Karafun won't show the graphics. Will play the music but just a blank screen where the lyrics should be.

Anyone have a clue

have you tried to play the disc in a regular karaoke machine to see if it really is a cdg disc. Have you ever ripped a CDG before with the same computer? Maybe you haven't set the software up properly? Maybe your burner is not CDG compatible?

Did someone give you the original discs or copies of the original discs? If they are copies, maybe they were ripped improperly.

Yes. I built this computer and both burners in it can and have ripped hundreds and hundreds of karaoke CD's using the software I mentioned above. That is why I'm baffled by this.

Nope, brand new. I took the shrink wrap and security seal off myself. Trust me, they were new.

OK, here's the deal...

There are two discs to this set. One has just music on it, even though the label says CDG, I tried it in my Karaoke player. Just plays the music, no graphics.

The other disc says DVD karaoke. This one playes on my PC using Windows Media Player as well as on my karaoke player. This one has the music and graphics but it's encoded as a TS file. Which I don't think you can touch. I don't see any way to break this file down into the individual karaoke tracks.

Alan,

I own her 1st two cds on Karaoke, just like you describe. I'm not sure what the dvd karaoke is really for, but I've ripped both of the cds (labeled w/ cdg) with microstudio with no problems. They are very popular with the younger crowd. I will be getting the new release as well.

Maybe you got a defective disc.

I'd have to agree with DannyG here. You have a defective disc. It's rare, but it does happen. Take it back to the store and explain to them that it doesn't work. I know that they have a policy of no returns on music and software, but if it's actually defective, they HAVE to take it back and exchange it.
Reminds me of the time I bought a cassette tape (obviously many years ago) from Columbia House and all there was in it was the leader tape. Never did get that one resolved since everything was done through snail mail in those days. Ever since then, until the internet came along, I bought in B&M so if the same thing ever happened again, I could just take it and show them.
Which reminds me, if you have a small stand alone player, maybe bring it with you to show them it actually doesn't work, in case of doubt.

they will usually make an exchange for the exact same item at a music store.

Alan, are you sure it's a TS file and not a VOB file?

Update: You guys and gals were right. This disc was defective. I returned it for a new one and this new one plays and rips just fine. It seems that I'm not the only one with the problem. The reviews for this disc on Amazon.com say that they also recieved discs that would not display the graphics on the CDG disc. It seems that a bad run was made. So, thanks to you all.
