Here is the "Back Story"..

This years is the seventh annual Veterans Day flag ceremony in the dunes, and the turn out was just under 2000 people, with 200 veterans.

The original flag was in honor of a long time friend and a vet, Chuck Boardman.

Chuck ran a small desert bar just outside Glamis Ca., and had many many friends..

Upon his passing, we decided to erect a flag in the desert, and then, we decided to have an annual ceremony (Flag raising) to honor all US Veterans.

(He is the good part..)

Each year, we have a battle flag flown in from Iraq, that has flown over

our "Green Zone" compound..

We then have the flag raising, and each Veteran is called up and after announcing his service, and tour dates, he is given a commemorative coin, pressed just for this event.

It's a bit a a tearjerker..

I'll post more pix after I dab my eyes..

This video shows the large flag ceremony turnout, and the "Challenge Coin" awarded to each of the 200 Vets that attended.. (Near the end)
