I have several original SC 8125 CDG-s and I wonder how much they are worth or if I should keep them for legal reasons. I would like to trade or sell them but I might regret it later. any suggestions or advice would be helpful.

If You are running 3 systems via computer or backup copies, you need to have the originals stored somewhere in a 1:1 ratio between copies and originals. This means for 3 systems you need to have 3 original discs of SC8125 to remain legal.

First, welcome to the board Ernie.

I think you will find that the value of the disc will very. I've seen them go on ebay for as little as $100 and then watched as people got into a bidding frenzy and ran one up to almost $500. It'll depend on who's bidding and how badly they want it.

As far as selling or hanging on to the discs you have, Danny's right. If you're a KJ and plan to expand to more than one system, you will need an original for each system to stay legal. So think about that before you decide to sell any.

I suggest you sell them before they decrease in value any further.

Since several of the songs came out on the GEM series, the disc isn't worth as much as it once was. And as the others said, if you are running a show (or more) you need 1 original disc PER computer.

Ditto. Eventually the 1: 1 disc to electronic media ratio in the US will HAVE to be replaced by some form of computer licensing..especially as mfgrs turn more and more to the download market.

Thanks, Danny....that's not too good, so even if I had the gem series, I wouldn't sell my one copy of 8125. This also brings to mind, what other songs they originally came out with, that won't be included in their digital collections.

Take good care of your 8125. I also own the much sought-after SC8125. I’ve been giving this disc an extra tlc. About 4 years ago, I played “Peaceful Easy Feeling” and the graphics started to scramble. Upon inspection against the light I notice a few pinholes.

I was told (in another forum) it was pressed on a low grade quality cd and they succumb to degradation through the years. I brought this to SC’s attention. They say it cannot be replaced because it’s “no longer available”. In other words, I am $h** out of luck. Now, # 2 – “One of these Nights” & # 4 – “Desperado” doesn’t play at all.

By the way, this was not the only one. I have quite few SC cds with pinholes bought around late-80’s. Some has been replaced by SC for just the cost of shipping ($7.49 I think).

Thanks for my back-up system; I make copies of the cd’s right after I bought them. I have clone copies tucked behind these "pin-holed" originals in my cd binders. Lesson learned!

You should send them to me for safe keeping! LOL.

Hey, 8125 is still THE cdg that is commanding the most $.

Keep one for yourself, sealed.

The others would be a great Christmas present for someone and cool Christmas money for you. Ebay them! Start the bidding at 250.00. Sought after items tend to go up about an extra 10 to 20% in Dec.

You should put a clear label on all your discs. This will protect them from the reflective surface flaking/ scratching.

I almost had a bunch of them. Got mine and told my buddy they were in stock. Next day I heard they were bein pulled. He was goin to get his. I told him to get them all, and they only had one. When I was there 2 days before they had 12.

I also have a SC8125 disc but have never had any problem playing it or any pinhole issues.

Hold on to them. This disc- or any Eagles music that I know of- has ever been licensed for karaoke- which is not your problem as long as you have a mfrs. disc- it's the mfrs..

However, this makes the disc very valuable to some.

I replaced my backstreet version of the eagles hits with the zoom cd. Zoom is a high quality cd. I would get in there and sell sell sell.

Meh. While the SC renditions are the best, between the GEM Eagles and other Manu's, if I owned one I'd sell it.

These aren't gold coins after all. The value is only going to go down in the next several years. In a decade (or less) when CD+G's are obsolete, it will be just as valuable as that rare Betamax edition of The Wizard of Oz.

Almost impossible in the UK to get true worth for a Karaoke Disc or collection. A friend of mine accepted £50 for the DK series....to a US buyer so it happens,as not a lot of UK interest

I have found that Backstage has some of the best Eagles karaoke music - especially Desperado. I use Backstage for pretty much nothing except for The Eagles.
