I am sorry if this sounds like spam, but I think it may interest a lot of regulars here.

We at Power Karaoke have released new program that allows to 'stamp' CDG files with a signature (text or image). This can be a way to protect ripped CD+G files. You stamp it with your venue name or add any other customized item (you can even display name and phone number on the title page) and if anyone from your competition copies files off your hard drive they still cannot use it.

Product description and trial version download is available here: http://www.powerkaraoke.com/src/prod-power-cdg-stamper.php.

I take it the paid version does not modify the name?

Yes, full version keeps your text on every page.

No, what I mean is...
The trial version sticks the word modified at the end of the cdg file.
It doesn't rename the mp3 file.
Just means deleting the word modified so it plays.

Oh, I get it now. There is 'Replace original file' switch, it will replace the original file with the processed file (original file will be backed up with -original added).

Yes but the word modified or original is added to the cdg.
The cdg will not play karaoke because
the cdg and mp3 are different file names.

I you choose 'Replace original file' then the modified file will have the proper name (the original will not play), assuming you select 'Source' as the output location.

If you choose a different output folder and 'Replace original file' is selected, the new will fill not have -modified added, but you would have to copy MP3 manually.

Asides from breaking the track,
are you sure SC is not going to do a de-facing thing on it.

Are the manu's ok with defacing their work?

You mean the screenshots or the idea in general?

We will remove screenshots with SC logos from website and replace it with something else.

Regarding the idea -- we will see.

Don't think that is an option.

Are you able to make changes to a Manu's track.
We are not allowed to do that.

Think you should ask first and halt your trial before someone sues you.
Like right now.

Software like EditCDG has been around for long time, this is the same thing.

Our software does not allow removing copyrights or anything, we are safe with this (at least from what we checked with lawyers). Most of KJs are playing CD+G with images in the background and scrolling messages on top of them, which effectively modifies the original track.

I don't think this would violate US copyright law as it would make a pirated version easier to track. Good idea. Not worth forty bucks because it's too easy to do, but a good idea.

It sure would keep an employee from copying his boss's hard drive and going into business for himself. It will also allow a singer to bring his songs to a show on a hard drive without worrying about the karaoke host dragging the tracks to his hard drive without permission. If you went back to his show and sang the same song a week later and you saw your data on the screen; he would have some serious explaining to do. I think it's a great idea. It won't be too long before someone figures out how to adapt the software to write over the Sound Choice Logos in a CDG track. That software would sell like Hot Cakes in this climate. That might get Sound Choice in a bad mood and then they might suit you as an accomplice?

That's not hard to do but I think you could get in a lot of trouble.
