I've just finished my first show, a Christmas party, using my newly converted to computer song base and my upgrade to Siglos professional player. The show went great and I'm really impressed with the software. While CD's still sound better that computer songs, not lugging all those songs around makes for a faster setup.

You shouldn't be able to tell the difference over a PA in a karaoke bar unless you ripped them at a low bit rate. What did you rip them at?

Ohhh I think I will generate some flak from this but I will say it anyway. Let me just say firsthand that I am not what you call a “pro-techie”.

Maybe from my not too discerning ear - I thought so too before that that was the case. Actual cd’s has far superior sound quality than ripped until I did a little tweaking from my Winamp eq, and then changed my sound card to a Lexicon. The results were more depth, or equal to, or probably at times even better than the cd itself.

Could it be because of the double eq’uing, my system and Winamp’s? Just imho. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

To repeat what I said in another thread "I am entitled to my own opinion, but I am not entitled to my own facts".

I think most of that is the upgrade to the Lexicon's superior D/A conveters. Better bit twiddling = better sound.

Get yourself a decent sound card/ audio interface and you will definitely see a difference in your sound quality. You will not be able to tell the difference between your discs and the computer.

Cheers
