Hey y'all, the hard drive in my laptop crashed last weekend. As a result I've spent all my free time this week rebuilding it. Decided while I was out getting a new hard drive I might as well get the Windows 7 upgrade as well (had been running Vista previously). So it's all up and going, still using WinAmp with AutoKDJ; which works great BTW other than that I had to manually install the File Remover plug-in manually because it wouldn't install with the AutOKDJ install. So anyway from those of you that have already moved up to Win 7, any thoughts or advice on things I should watch out for as it pertains to running the show (any wierd new features that would cause a problem during a gig for instance). I'll admit that while I'm up to speed on the security aspects of Win7 I've not really played much with its features yet so I'm embarassingly ignorant at this point. I've already gone through and done the typical things I'd always do (turn off windows defender, set updates to manual, minimize running services, etc). But if there's something more you can think of I'd love to hear it. |

Be sure to turn system sounds off. If this is strictly a gig machine I would turn UAC off...just seems to solve any problems/issues that might have occured if it is left on...especially running software that wasn't designed around Win7. I never ran Vista...avoided it like the plague, heard so many first hand horror stories, whether true or not IDK. However I have grown to really appreciate Win7, have it on my home desktop and my gig laptop, still running xp on my backup gig laptop and my work laptop. |

I just upgraded from Vista to 7 Pro as well. Computer kept crashing (blue screening several times), thought it was just bad stuff that got through security (home computer). Installed 7, worked fine for 1 day then started doing it again. Turns out my motherboard was fried. But now I have 7 and just got my computer back today but have used Hoster for over an hour WITH UAC enabled, all security enabled and it's working beautifully. If I was using it for show only, I would disable everything else that wouldn't be needed though. So far I am liking 7 alot, several programs that I have were built for XP would not run on Vista at all, DO run fine on 7 - even my Office 2000 suite! |

Would love to post something nice about Windows 7. What I can say is Windows 7 is geared more towards security which is required. It is horrible to manipulate. Mainly because security is a billion $ thingy. If it is a simple good karaoke program you want to run, not going online ... XP is really good. It is Christmas guys. Humbug and Happy Christmas to you all. |

I love Win 2000 and I still use it on my older PC. and for some very old program that I still use. My current PC came with Win 7 pre-installed, and so far I had no issue with the OS. |
