At the Australian Sound Choice site and it looks like they have a lot of the songs that have been out of print for a long time.

Glad I did not spend 200+ on the 8125 because It looks like I can get all the songs for $66 on a custom CD.

As far as I can tell the listing is far more extensive then their previous custom disk listing. And that is a good thing for me.

According to my database I think there are 252 Sound Choice disks that I have all but one song from (mostly Star and Spotlight Select series). So custom disks are a great deal for me. Far better than the GEM series considering my previous investments.

Yeah they're great if you're disc based. If you're computer based you're SOOL. They use a copyprotection that will only allow you to extract only the audio from the disc. to back them up you have to buy a duplicate disc.

I can't imagine that they can come up with a copy protection that makes the disks still work on more than a couple of brands of karaoke machines, and does not work on computers. I thought SC learned their lesson with media-cloq.

With media-cloq it is a lot harder to get the disks ripped to computer, but it can be done, but a lot of the media-cloq disks do not work on some disk players.

So you download the back up file or the Zip file from an on-line source and you own the disc for copyright purposes.

Unless they have changed something, the custom discs ripped just fine. I have a couple from right before they stopped. They have always had that blurb in their FAQ about computer play stating they will play in a cdg player, but audio only in a computer.

Was wondering about that. The CB Customs say the same thing but the boyfriend stuck one in his computer and it played fine, including showing the lyrics. Didn't try to rip one, though, so can't say how that would go.
