I am putting together a pro Karaoke system 2 of the speakers I am looking at are Harbinger HX151 and JBL JRX115. Any input on these speakers or others available would be appreciated. Thanks

Honestly, I don't like either cabinet very much. Even though the JRX is a budget line for JBL, their overall quality exceeds that of Harbinger in just about every way. The power handling is about the same on both cabs, but the design of the JRX (especially the wave guides on the horns) exhibits far more advanced engineering than the Harbinger. Also the JBL crossover network and time alignment circuitry is hard to beat at this price point. I also really like the dual position pole sockets on the JRX.
The Harbinger however benefits from a better frequency response, the JBL's are surprisingly limited in that regard, especially on the high end. Although from my understanding, what Harbinger uses for Frequency Response numbers is actually what JBL and most other Manu's would call Frequency Range, i.e. it's measured at -10dB. So the comparison is closer and in fact the JBL does a little better on the low end. The Harbinger does have a little better power handling capability
Honestly if I had to choose between the two I'd probably go with the JBL, but admittedly that decision would be as much about the name as anything else. I trust JBL (in spite of the EON series) a lot more than Harbinger. Even at their budget line, JBL's speakers benefit from the millions they spend on R&D for their flagship lines which include Portable PA, Concert PA and Studio Monitoring solutions. In the end, if possible, your best solution is to go listen to both models. Guitar center carries both so if you have a GC nearby, see if they can setup an A/B demo for you.

I own 2 Harbinger speakers (can't remember the model tho), they are monitors. They actually have some pretty good punch for being only monitors, but I agree with Tony on this one. Even the budget models of JBL's are a better buy than these budget speakers of Harbinger. Harbinger was designed to compete against the Behringer price points. But they lack in engineering and quality.

What we use really doesn't fit what you might be needing. Our amps/speaker combos work for us, but they might not work for you. What amps are you using? or plan on using? But to simply answer your question, I run 3 amps, all of which are the Behringer EP2500's,, will be adding different ones someday. (more power of course). My main speakers are the Yamaha S115's.. they are a bit heavy, but sound terrific, and can handle daily usage. My subs are Behringer B1800's, and my monitors are Behringer B212xl's. Someday I will be changing out amps and most likely the subs too. But for now, this is what I have. As far as what you are asking, is a matter of what you WANT to do. Some great info, but the fine folks who are good at what they do, would say something to this affect.. "need more info,, budget, size of room/venue, amps",,, Just a heads up.

putting together a pro setup for venues of 20 to 200 bought an old used system to start with consisting of Peavey 115 htc speakers and a bmb amp system sounds good but not show quality. Just curious what different people are using out there my borther who has a very nice setup is who suggested the beringer or jbl speakers with a vocopro da9800rv amp and a peavey pv10usb mixer. Hope this assists you in assisting me ........Thanks for your input!!!!

I've never been a big fan of Peavey, especially their speakers. And you won't find anyone in here who has many nice things to say about anything that VocoPro makes either.

Big Al, I would steer away from the VocoPro Amp. Most VocoPro products are not Professional Grade DJ stuff. Notice I said most, I have a wired VocoPro mike that I would not hesitate in giving to a singer if I still ran wired mikes. get a hold of the specs on the speakers you want to use and go to http://www.qsc.com/products/amps/advanc ... lector.htm and check out their amplifier selector.

Before I answer the first part of this question, I would like to know what your budget is and what your intended application is for these speakers. Is this for home use, are you planning to play in public, what size venues, etc. All very important factors to consider.
As far as what I use, I have a number of options based on the size venue I'm playing. My primary rig is a pair of Mackie S215's (which I believe have been discontinued). I picked up a used pair for around $600 after I had heard them in use at a band gig. They're one of the first cabinets that Mackie worked with EAW to design and it shows. I've also got a Bose 802 rig, a Mackie SR-1530 rig and a JBL 4732 rig that I use for Karaoke depending on my needs. With the exception of the Mackie SR's (which are powered), I drive each of these rigs with one or multiple AB 1100A amps which into 8 ohms gives me 600W/ch.

hey guys just got back from guitar center. i ended up going with 2 mrx 515 jbl speakers and a crown xls 2000. the difference between these and the jrx515 and the harbingers was absolutely incredible. And to answer your question I am going to be running karaoke shows at local bars private parties and such so far have about $3500 in equipment.

Without question, upgrading to the MRX is well worth the money. That amp will serve you well in the short term, however you may want to think about upgrading that down the road. Those speakers would be ideally mated to an amp capable of pushing 800W/ch @ 8 ohms. Having an underpowered amp isn't going to hurt you (and this discussion is going on in another thread here) as long as you're not pushing the amp beyond its limits.
Congratulations on the gear purchase!!! I'm sure you've gotta be pretty excited.
