Hello everyone. I ran a Karaoke business a while back and am looking to rejuvenate it. Unfortunately I sold off my DKG set thinking I was done with it which was roughly half of my CDGs. So now I have an issue. I did see where I guess I could download this series off the internet. If that would work than I could use the same books I have now. If not than I may be looking to reorganize my books to take out the DKG set. Anyone have experience downloading karaoke tunes? If so do you need a software program to play them and if so could I download that somewhere? I thought about just buying them again, but they were discontinued and are going for like $40/CDG. Ouch. I'd rather just reorganize the books and provide half the songs. KJ wouldn't be my primary service, but was looking to add it to the other ones I currently provide. Thanks for any help. |

Lee, you need the actual discs to be legal. If you are running a computerized system, look into the GEM series from www.soundchoicestore.com as it is 6000 unduplicated songs. As to software you are going to get various answers for that. If you're looking to do this with a low budget I would suggest JustKaraoke from www.tricerasoft.com If money is no object then look at either Hoster from www.mtu.com or CompuHost from www.karaokeware.com I would download all their demos and check them out to see what fits your needs. |

I'll just reprint the books. I don't have the money to expand and considering how much I'd use it it wouldn't make much sense to spend that kind of money. Thanks for the info. |

You can do that Lee. Keep in mind that some software you buy, will have a bookmaking software that goes with it. For instance I use Compuhost and it comes with FastTracks Song Book creator. All you do is type in the manu cdg # and it will place all those songs in a digital list for you to print out. One of the great things about this software (and maybe other manu songbook softwares) is that you can select to have no dupes printed in your book and even tell the software which manu you want to show up in your book if there are dupes. As a matter of fact, FastTracks will go 8 manus deep. For instance, I don't want dupes in my book so I select "no duplicates" and then I select Sound Choice first, Chartbuster second, Pop Hits Monthly 3rd, Sweet Georgia Brown 4th, and on and on. That's not actually my order but I will never tell! The software has a one time cost. However the songbook writer (FastTracks) will need to be updated every so often. I can't remember the period because I chose the 2nd option of paying extra to have lifetime updates of karaoke song look ups. I think it was $27 extra. Others may remember better than me. And I won't sugarcoat it, I've found spelling errors and artist name errors. These come from the manus themselves and I just keep an eye out as I add to my digital list and correct if I see them. But overall, I would never go back to typing in excel by hand. That's just me, there are those in this forum that prefer that method, and usually their reasoning is it lets them get to know their library better. Perhaps they are right, I like to do things the easy way usually. |

Fast Tracks is not a part of the Compuhost package but is sold separately. From their product description Quote: **FastTracks V2 SongBook Creator Required, Sold Separately
MTU Hoster has a built in songmaker that is included with the program. |

I stand corrected. I didn't state that correctly. |
