Just curious how many people have this song, and if anyone has ever sung it at your show. Perhaps for Oktoberfest? :beermates:

I have it on Chartbusters. I've never sung it myself, BUT I used to do a charity show at a local nursing home and there was a gal in her 80s who would do her best to sing it. The other patients always got into the song.

Do not have it, however no-one in my 20 years has ever once asked to sing nor get it.

I have it on DK96-7 standard version, & SC8109-2 by Andrews Sisters. Last time I played it was 6 years ago at an American Legion Christmas Party. They loved the song so much it was played twice.

I have it on the DK3070 disk. Haven't seen anyone sing it, but I have it on MP3 and have played it for dancing at a private party.

Nope don't have it, never had a request for it (that I can remember). But I do have the song on the DJ side and have played it for filler music a few times.

I have it, no one has ever sung it. Interestingly, now that people know I can sing the "Pussycat Song" or whatever it's called by Connie somebody, there is an old guy who asks me to sing it all the time - he sits and watches everyone in the room to see their reaction. Have to say, it's pretty comical.

I have it as well, and have used it a couple of times in Kamakazee situations.

I do have it. I live in Wisconsin, I think it's the polka capital of the US. Girls, drinks = polka. Guaranteed, if you wait til the right time (on any given night), play a polka, the dance floor will fill up.

Well, looks like I'm going to bring it out on Friday night and see what happens. Eagles club, dance floor, and maybe I'll get some dancers coming up to polka. Would be a first at my show for sure in 15 years.

Can't remember ever being asked to play it.. but I have two versions in case someone ever does:

Music Maestro 6189 track 7 listed as 'standard' and Chartbuster 5039 disc 3, track 15 in the style of Bobby Vinton.

Hope if/when the day comes someone asks they won't complain I don't have the Sound Choice version. hahahaha

No, but if you do not learn it, you miss something important!

Per the wikipedia article, the music was written in the 1920's, with the words added later. It became very popular during WWII, reaching #1 on the hit parade:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Barrel_Polka
Quote:
Since the 1970s, it (usually the Frankie Yankovic version) has been played during the seventh inning stretch at Milwaukee Brewers baseball games, as well as becoming one of the state of Wisconsin's unofficial state songs as it's also played at numorous University of Wisconsin sporting events, as well as Green Bay Packers home games.

But mostly it is just a great song, a happy tune, with three distinct parts to it which make it fun to sing. It would be a good song to try out in October for any place celebrating an Oktoberfest. Where I live, Washington State, there is a faux German town called Leavenworth ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leavenworth,_Washington ). It would definitely be the place to karaoke this song. But as a novelty beer drinking song, it should have its place in any pub.

 It's almost worth a trip up to Karen's show to hear it sung!

It would probably make a good starter or ending song for the night. :beermates:
