During my show tonight, the bartender comes over with a found piece of jewelry, not unusual, I get earrings and keys and such all the time. This time, though, it was a heavy white-gold man's wedding ring. A good number of my regulars are married couples, so at my next break, I ask all the married men to hold up their left hands and check their fingers, because I have someone's wedding ring. No response for a few seconds, then a young guy comes over, sort of sheepishly, so I interview him over the live mic, to have him ID the ring and its markings. "This is a very nice ring. What are you drinking, not to have noticed this nice ring fly off your hand?" A long pause, then, "Ummmm, it was in my pocket." A young lady at the bar blurts out, "YOU'RE MARRIED?!?!?" - and bolts out the door. The whole room explodes into laughter, the kind where tears roll down your cheeks. Good times, good times. |

I'd never seen these folks in the bar before. The guy hung out the rest of the night, since his plans for the evening went up in smoke. |

I've seen similar scenerios where people have called out others that were married hitting on others, but nothing as like described here, that is priceless! |

Heh heh... too smooth. He hung out the rest of the night? That takes nerve, considering as I did, that almost every woman in the place must have been "staring knives" at him. BWAAAAAAAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA. Half-wit should have kept his mouth shut and collected the ring discreetly, either later from you, or later from the bar as you would have turned it over to them eventually. Reminds me of Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats"... you know the line: "Maybe next time, he'll think before he cheats" When a lady does that song at my shows, I usually tag it at the end by saying: "Sure he'll think. He'll think, maybe he should park his little red 4wd out of sight or a couple of blocks away next time." |

Well, while I really find this funny too, I just tell everyone who asks the same thing you hear in Vegas.."What happens at the bar, stays at the bar" When someone steps outside their marriage, I don't pass judgment on them, because we don't know what they are going thru in their lives. Infidelity is a symptom of something wrong, it's not the reason itself. Let them work out their own problems, or end their marriages themselves, don't let us be a catalyst for them. I know you didn't know anything about the situation, you just simply were stating "found a ring, come identify it" Situations like this happen all the time, and it's simply sad that people don't recognize where the real problem lies. Ok, me getting off my soap box now. |

Infidelity is a symptom of something wrong, it's not the reason itself. I have to disagree. Some people are just jerks who can't keep it in their pants. And jerkettes, for that matter. Screwing around on your partner and then going home to sleep with them without telling where you have been? That is low. You don't know what diseases you might bring home. Ok, me getting off my soap box now. Ditto. |

I agree with that to a point. But let us not pass judgment, we are really only passing judgment upon ourselves when we do. Ok,, someone take my soap box away now. haha |

I agree with that to a point. But let us not pass judgment, we are really only passing judgment upon ourselves when we do. That's a copout. Of course we pass judgment, we can't help it. That doesn't mean we say anything. That being said, I almost never speculate about such things and that means I never really run into cases. I also refuse to believe the verbal testimony of someone talking about another person, as I know that eyewitness testimony is doubtful at best. So I avoid passing judgment in that way, simply by not rushing to believe everything I hear. |

Yeah, Mcky57, we can help it. It is the CHOICE of each of us whether we believe or disbelieve what has been said to us. We also have the choice as humans to take a higher stand and NOT pass judgment. Nobody truly knows what is going on in another persons life, none of us!! Even by "walking a mile" in his/hers shoes,,, we have only walked that mile, not the entire journey. It's not for us on this earth to pass judgment on another person, nor it is in return. Call it a religious or personal belief, but that's how I feel. We make choices in our lives that either work, or don't work for us, Not that they are right or wrong, its just simply do they work or not. Now, in this particular case, nobody had said that judgment was given, it was simply a story that I find humorous at the most, nothing more, nothing less. The person in question couldn't care less about how we feel either. |

To relate to the song that was mentioned above, "Carrie Underwood's - Before He Cheats"... If you (meaning, anyone) has seen this video and it wasn't just a video, but a real life situation, the girl in question would be going to jail!!! And the dude would have an excuse to tell his wife. Thats what I tell my audience when someone sings this song,,, "She is going to jail,,,,,,, there are three things you don't mess with that a guy has,,, one is his power tools, second is his fishing pole,, and third is his pickup truck"... you mess with any one of those things and there IS GOING TO be problems,, haha,,,, and I mean this jokingly of course. |

As for judging, everybody does it everyday. Whether it is about people (why some are friends and others not), produce (is this fruit/veggie fresher), cars (Mini vs Hummer), etc, etc, etc. As for finding something, I would announce that a ring or whatever was found. If someone came up, I'd ask the person to describe it (off mic) and if it was theirs, return it or announce it hadn't been claimed. |

Now being holier-than-thou, that's another thing entire. I have feet of clay like everyone else. Now we both agree on at least one thing. The choice I think we *can* make is to believe and disbelieve. And I think you are mostly a fool to believe anything anyone says about another person that they have a grievance against. People fool themselves, they make mistakes, they misinterpret things, and they lie, too. If I take gossip with a grain of salt, it's easy for me to avoid passing judgment. They can profess the most profound beliefs, but then when you watch how they act, their actions belie their words. |

You guys may not like this, but it really doesn't matter what is going on in a person's life or what problems they have. Excuses are just that: excuses. Cheating is WRONG, no matter what, and it doesn't matter how you try to justify it, it can never be right. You may all say I need to walk a mile in a person's shoes to really "know" what it's like, but I can assure you, I don't. If a person wants to sleep around with someone else, then they should simply be HONEST with their current partner and either tell them right out or break up with them in order to do what they like, but lying and cheating is the lowest form of dishonesty a person can get to. I could go on about the morality of it, but the major issue here is HEALTH. Would I want my partner sleeping around? Certainly not, but if he did and I found out, the second thing I would be doing is going to a doctor. The first would be showing him the door. My health is too precious to risk to some lowlife lying scum and the trust that was supposed to be there would certainly be destroyed. Doesn't matter what his "issues" are. |

Well, this forum isn't the place to discuss matters of morality. But, I have to sit here and smile at you guys and tell you something that will make you guys raise an eyebrow or two. It will make you wonder what I have been smoking!!! But, I'm not going to disagree or agree with what you are saying. I AM going to tell you this, "there is NO right, there is NO wrong",,,, there is only "does it work for you or not". I know something about life that most people don't, and am willing to share, if you want to know. But this forum is not the place or the time. It doesn't work for me Ok, now back to the regular scheduled program. I still find the story comical a bit. Just don't be too hasty to pass judgment is all. Peace out yo! |

God! How I hate that song. I made a song parody of it called: BEFORE SHE NAGS. I posted it on the Singers Showcase a couple years back when I made it. I get plenty of laughs whenever I take it out of the moth balls and sing it at karaoke. |
