Anyone know how to get the instrumental/karaoke off a recorded or live performance?

Say here's a video (you don't have to watch all of it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EW9aK2iZ ... re=related

It's a live performance from one of my favorite artists and the sound is pretty good. There are programs like Audacity to do this but none of these work. I need some help on taking the vocals off this song just leaving the karaoke, this being the music and any backing vocals which there are. I would be grateful if someone could help.

Thanks,
Hassaan

Just use the original Taylor Swift karaoke track if you like the song that much. Just adjust the key accordingly.

Programs that drop the vocals are just dropping the vocal frequencies, which also drops all instruments that appear in that frequncy range, most notably rhythm guitar.

You can't literally "drop" vocals and keep everything else without having the master tracks.

But there should be a way to just basically take the vocals off the song using audacity, and I would like some help. It could be useful for talent shows and stuff, and this sounds more male, as the original version doesn't, for me anyway.

First of all the vocal reducers only work provided the vocal track is the only thing that is panned straight up meaning exactly the same signal in both left & right channels. These work by seeking out the like signals in each channel & cancelling them out - which is why sometimes the bass, kick drum & snare drums are often reduced as well. So that being said anything that is a mono recording (everything recorded exactly the same in both left & right channels) will never work with a vocal reducer.
Looking at this video, looks as if it was recorded with a camera phone or flip vid and in the proximity of where it was recorded and the fact that live shows usually pan most everything mono anyway, you will never get a vocal reducer to work sorry to say. There is nothing you can do.
