First off, the game I'll be doing is Rock or Shock in which singers on two mikes one sings a hard song and if they mess up they get buzzed and the next singer continues on the song. And if that one messes up BUZZ and another singer continues and so on and so on. What are some lenghty songs that will probably get about 4+ Buzzes per song. Most can be hard to sing lyrics with some good high notes or some really wordy lyrics hard to sing each word. My thoughts: Barracuda by Heart, some really high notes and if this is coming from guys singing there'll be some Buzzes during that song. Saving all my Love by Whitney Houston, same for Barracuda plus even funnier watching guys sing that too. Take On Me by A-Ha, those high notes have to be hit or the song is not worth singing End of the World by REM, a lot of words and a fast pace to hit We Didn't Start The Fire by Billy Joel, same as REM End of the World |

Anything by: Journey, Queen, Led Zeppelin, The Police / Sting, Maroon 5, etc. Its those freakishly high voices. Also 99% of rap songs. Somebody always wants to sing "Baby got Back" it seems and I always tell them Rap is MUCH harder than it looks. Both in the breathing/pacing required and the rhythm necessary to pull it off and not look like a bumbling idiot. |

Call Me Al, Paul Simon (hard at least for me to get the synch right) Dream On, Aerosmith (especially those last few notes...) Anything by the Bee Gees, Earth Wind and Fire, Beach Boys, Michael Jackson, Journey, Foreigner Blue Bayou, Linda Ronstadt Old Time Rock and Roll, Bob Seger Sold (The Grundy County Auction), John Michael Montgomery How about the Walk of Life by Dire Straits. Does anybody actually nail the who-who's at the right time? |

Try the auctioneer by leroy van dyke. The parts where he actually auctioneers is hard to do and there is several instances where that happens. |

You're doing a "gong show" more or less, and part of the grading criteria is going to be if they are on key on high notes? You think the majority of karaoke singers know or care if they hit high notes properly? :/ Not where I come from. Some, yes, most, no. I think you'll get a lot of "why did you buzz me, I do this song perfect!" type of responses. I'd stick to songs that have fast words, talking parts, complicated rythms, stuff like that... things that are more "obvious" messups that everyone listening can listen for and tell when someone makes a goof. I would for sure put in "The Auctioneer" by Leroy Van Dyke:) . |

For me, the hardest songs to sing are from Journey. Steve Perry maybe has the most unique and the most original singing style. I remembered when Randy Jackson (former Journey bassist) said that only Robert Plant came close to Steve Perry's voice. |

Any Judas Priest song. Depending on the song, the words are fast, and the vocal range is usually high. |

"Whenever, "Wherever" by Shakira. If they don't know when to catch a breath on that one, they will be on the floor gasping in minutes. I suppose it would be unfair to use the Spanish version. "Independence Day" by Martina McBride can lull people into thinking they have it until they hit the chorus. |

"Eight Miles High" by the Byrds, has 4-part harmony, karaoke singers can't ever find the right key-line because there are too many of them, . |

The high notes in "male" songs, Journey, for example, don't seem to bother female singers. But those same females would be hard pressed to do a Barry White song, unless they do it like Taylor Dayne. Any decent singer can sing a song in key, if they are allowed to sing in a different octave. That's why the songs with fast and/or complicated lyrics or rhythms would work better as "difficult songs". Most good or even great singers have a certain range, and anything outside of it won't sound right. Bottom line - any song that some would consider "very hard" may be easy for others. |
