About three months ago there was a thread about a "Karaoke Stamper" I believe by Power Karaoke if I remember right. It was an application that would put your logo or text in the un-used space of a CDG file. As I am wont to do I opened my big mouth and said that the app. was over priced because it was too simple to do. Well... it is, but why stop there? A person could overwrite objectionable words or the title screen with a company name or something like that at any point in a a CDG file, but would you want to? Once I figured out how to do it the fun was over so I already have the working code but I never wrote a user interface. So, the long and rambling question is would anybody want to use such an application if I finished it? |

I don't so much care about the stamper part. If something could be created to be able to easily change an objectable word or two in a song, i'd buy it. |

I'd use it to change all the ##### words in songs to what they're supposed to be. |

I would definitely like to use this application if it didn't screw up the graphics when singing the song like the other app did. I tried using the other one that was posted here and it screwed up the entire track when I tried to play it back...especially on the home made tracks that I made with Karaoke Builder Studio. I'd be happy to test it out on some tracks to see if it worked with home made tracks. It really surprised me because I'm pretty sure that pop hits monthly uses KBS to make their files so I didn't expect to have problems with the STAMPER. Maybe it was something I did wrong? |

I think the whole idea of the program is to mark your property (CDGs you have ripped to your hard drive) to protect it from theft. I can see this being used by multi rig karaoke companies to mark their songs so that if an employee should decide to go into business for themselves using a copy of the companies property it would be very obvious. Just another method of protecting against piracy. |

That's really surprising. PowerKaraoke strikes me as a more than competent developer and a pretty decent guy(s). Did you contact him/them and send them a copy of the messed up CDG? I'd certainly like to see it because I'll probably make the same mistake they did. Once you get your mind wrapped around the concept CDG is pretty hard to mess up. I don't think it would be much good as a security marker because what one person can add another could remove. You might be better off just inputting text into the CDG file. I grafted the text of Moby Dick into one once and it played just fine. |

Yes that too! |

I'm sure that I deleted the files once they came out so badly but I could try to recreate the experiment. If I remember correctly, the words didn't print out on the screen but you could see the swipes. I think I had set the preferences to "stamp" every page |

I just tried to stamp a new song that I just made for someone and it had the same problems as I had described in my earlier post. I could send you the ZIP file if you give me an e-mail addy to send it to. |

Weed..... YES YES YES, I would, and will use the stamping program. Like others said, to protect myself, since I do have a guy that host for me, I don't want him copying all my music, and going out on his own using my music. I was going to buy the stamping program, but if you are making one, I will use it. BTW....While you are doing it, make it possible to stamp the CDG file withing the ZIP file, cause it would be a real PITA to un zip, stamp, and re-zip. While you are at it.......put a renaming function in too, to rename the files witin the ZIP file to what the zip file is named. I would also love the program to tag the ID in the MP3 file in the ZIP file to the proper artist/song title. SO what I want.... Stamping Zip renaming MP3 tagging Shouldn't be to hard for ya, and I would throw some bones your way to for a all in one program. Now I just need some way to copy protect my MP3 DJ files.....suggestions? And one more thing...I want to win the lottery, can anyone help with that? |
