I joined the millennium and purchased an 1SKB-R104 case to rack my equipment. I did the research and found out they do make top rack shelves and should be pretty close to perfect for my Yamaha MG124CX mixer. My case has arrived, still waiting for the shelf. I should say I also purchased the AV-8 pop up shelf to go along which will hold my laptop. In the past, I had my Furman conditioner above my mixer. It worked well for lighting my board. I used a gooseneck usb light to shine enough light on the laptop keyboard for me to put my fingers in the home position. I'm not sure how I will light my board now, maybe 1 2nd gooseneck attached to the laptop but point it below the laptop towards the board.

In my past gigs, I've always dreaded carrying my rack in. It's big and heavy and awkward. Makes my back hurt every time. It was the only heavy thing I couldn't really transport on the 2 wheel dolly. Even with my new case, I still feel the same way. I spent a couple hours last night trying to find a lightweight mobile cart/table about 25" tall that I could pull out of the trailer, place the case on and move it that way. I found nothing close to the height/size I want without spending about $300. I'd like this cart to be 25" high, 20" wide and 30" long. This would replace my current keyboard stand that I use and I could permanently put skirting around the cart, cut a hold in my case and run my cords/cables thru the hole thru the cart to the floor. Save my back and the time spent setting up my table. I'll probably head out to Menards and Farm & Fleet this morning and browse around.

Your thoughts?

Sweetwater has this --> " http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/RotoRoller " listed as an accessory for your unit, I would call them and make sure your unit will fit on it-if it will you should bite the bullet and get it. You will have some storage and(or) room to grow.

Too much money for my needs. Not understanding why someone would want this unit. Only 20" high, are you going to sit on the floor to run it? I just want a cart with wheels that can transport, and allow me to use it for my mobile set up as well.

Yeah, it is really a fit for the mini gig rig, don't know why Sweetwater would have it listed as an accessory for your rack? A bit pricey too, considering I was able to order a brand new SKB mighty gig rig through GC last fall for $10 less than this unit. Oh well, it was worth a looky at anyway.

Yep, worth looking at. Thanks for trying. Just came back from a trip to Wal Mart, Farm & Fleet, and Menards. I found one utility cart that was too high and non locking wheels although they were big wheels.

We were using a similar cart, although not that brand, and the small set of wheels were not up to the terrain. But then we live in gravel/dirt/mud/sand country. If you were asphalt it might do.

Are you aksing for something that you wheel in and do the show with the rig still on the cart?

Ok, total cost for this from flex craft parts would be $103.38. This includes sturdy 3" wheels. They do have 5" wheels but a lot pricier. I can get free pressed wood to fill my top. I will buy a black sheet, cut it down for each side and velcro it to the steel on each side. This should save time on set ups and save my back. Of course wherever stairs are involved, there will still be some carrying.

Not sure what the shipping cost is yet.

Dimensions will be 24" by 30" (like my table to have 6" on one side for my drink and song slips) by 27" high including the wheels.

kinda cool. just a thought, maybe "L" stock aluminum? still strong, but lighter than steel (easier on the back) might be cool.

not what you are looking for, but i have drawers in it for my lappy, mics, other misc accessories (batteries, slips etc.) and the books sit at the bottom like in a bookshelf. everything but the Bose fits in there for transport and easy setup. you have a lot of space under yours as well. you could make spaces for everything and have an all in 1 transport.

Why not just buy a 4 foot folding table, and buy some casters from home depot, and attach them to the legs. When not in use, take off the casters, and fold up the table. Perfect height for skirt, and perfect size.

I've seen these before, I always liked them but I don't need the side table, could maybe put the songbooks there. I always wondered, how do you move these along stairs?

Rosario good idea. However I'm looking for a small footprint to fit in nearly any scenario. I say nearly as I did a gig on St. Pattys day that I only had 24" deep by 60". The pool table in front of me had to serve for my table.

I also want that size to fill up the spot at the end of my trailer. That way everything is wedged tightly inside and won't shift.

I am thinking of buying this unit as well http://www.odysseygear.com/odyssey-prod ... Table.html. but I am concerned with the portability of in and out to from gig to gig. Thinking of getting mixer only rack, then a small amp rack with a drawer for mics etc. Perhaps a 8 slot unit. Then as I add to my system just purchase another small amp rack.
This thread has me wondering what everyone uses for equipment storage AND tables.

Equipment storage and tables all in one. I keep virtually everything inside the rack, pre-mounted. I connect a laptop, some video, the mics, and the speakers and away I go. Setup is 20 minutes.

Rip, have you considered making or having made a rolling cart to your exact specs and needs?

Make it from thinwall aluminum tubing and it will be lightweight strong and funtion exactly like you want it too. If you have access to a heliarc welder would be great but for welding aluminum in most cases I find that the little wire feed mig units do just fine.

Just thinking out of the box.
Perhaps modify the cart/table with peice of plywood, and screw some cases to that?????

Probably could change out the wheels for pneumatic ones to make it ride smoother.

I have one of theses (slightly older model) that holds my compound sliding miter saw that weighs about 100 lbs. I can drag it across rocks/dirt/snow with no problem.
