Got your attention? I want to start using a mouse. Anyone else use one? I want a shelf/platform that can house a mini mouse and be easy to pull off of my laptop pop up shelf. Any suggestions? |

How about a rack mountable keyboard drawer? SKB has the laptop tray for mounting on top of a slant top mixer, but would be nice to have a mouse pad attachment as well. |

I'm just not for sure as the mouse platform won't be hooking onto a surface that's flat on both sides, the bottom of the laptop pop up has a half inch side on it. |

Is it a full sized mixer? I have the exact same case and pop up. My mixer (Behringer XENYX X1204USB USB Mixer with Effects) has a smaller foot print so I modified the mounting brackets to give me a platform to the right of the mixer. It works great for me. |

Out of curiosity, why is it you want a mouse? Not feeling the trackpad control on your laptop? When I first implemented a PC in my mobile rig.. 10 years ago.. I had to use a rack mounted PC because a laptop with enough ummph to run the TriceraSoft player was cost prohibitive for me at the time, and I already had plenty of desktop parts laying around. Anyway.. I found a mouse to be a huge PITA, but a TRACKBALL worked great, and didn't require nearly as much real estate as a mouse and no mousepad or a smooth surface required. I eventually picked up a rack mount, slide out keyboard that had an integrated trackball.. but if you've not ever tried a trackball, you may want to go to one of the office supply stores and check one out in their mouse display isle. |

This does kinda remind me of the guy that asked for reviews on tables. Not racks, TABLES. I suggested the four-legged model  As for mice, I highly discourage the four-legged model

I second the motion for a trackball. It's all I've used since first getting one years ago. I prefer the one with the ball on top to be moved by fingertips, not the one with the ball on the side for your thumb. It takes a little getting used to at first, but it will grow on you. And you don't need much space, because it doesn't move. |

Yeah, it's all about personal preference.. and even among the trackball crowd there is dissension.. I, for instance, like the trackball that is positioned for use with a thumb.. while others prefer the finger method. I personally don't mind my Dell laptops trackpad at all.. but several of the other local KJ's and DJ's prefer to use an external mouse. I just can't use those 'mini mice'.. my hands are just too big I guess.. and a full size mouse needs room to roam.. which means more desk space, or a shelf. |
