I've got a Delta 44 and Cakewalk Homestudio 04 working and I pretty much got them doing what I want. I put an os on my spare hard drive and decided I'd fine tune them today Well it's dark now and still got a problem.

When I switch to asio drivers I dont get stereo support left channel only. Found a thead on Cakewalk forum and the solution is a patch. On the Cakewalk support page they say serial numbers after a certain number dont need the patch and when I tried to down load & entered serial number it said mine was current and didnt need the patch.

I have recorded a few times and the wdm drivers seem to work just fine.
Since I'm using a real mixer and not concerned with latency I'm wondering if I really need to use the asio drivers anyway. Anybody here using this setup if so which drivers are you using?

Glad you posted....Sorry you are having problems, tho.

You can believe that I will follow this post thru cause I just bought the Delta 44 card myself. I haven't installed it yet cause it's computer don't show up till tomorrow.

The computer is a dual Pentium rack mount with SCSI drives that I intend to dedicate just to music as a file server and for home recording and playback.

It is loaded already with Winduhs 2000 Pro, but I'm thinking about changing to another OS.

Please keep us filled in on how it goes for you. I have never recorded anything yet, so I'm paying strict attention.

Thanks, and good luck!

Keith

Id stick with Win 2k pro just make sure it has service pack 4 installed (system properties general) and will list it if it does. If not you can down load from microsoft or they will send you a cd It is a long down load.....
(I think it has been de-bugged more than xp simply in the fact it has been around longer)

Before you install a bunch of stuff let me know and I will give you some hints One thing I do now is partition my hard drive I use at shows and have an os one one that has all the tools on it like excell mp3+g tooz etc and on the other partition a basic os with just the proggies to run the show.

Me and you think alike.

I was intending to use one SCSI drive for the OS/tools, and another for my server files, and another for my recording stuff.

My new Plex 40 should show up today too!

I won't be able to get her totally up till the dual video card and extra drive controler card shows up.

This machine won't ever be used for shows. I'm thinking I will configure the laptop for that and just build it's file library from selected tracks off the server. The server will get it's own rack also containing all the outboard effects and devices I'll use for recording. Eventually it will have it's own small top-of-the-box mixer.

Everything is gonna have to be re-racked.....gonna be a pain fersure. But this time I'm gonna build patch bays for each rack and shorten/eliminate lots of cables.

I have cakewalk hs 04 it's upgrades along with sonar producer's version. (I really don't use them very often anymore) BUT I do use midi with them as well as the WDM drivers out because I have a USB Interface as well as internal SB Card.. and some how the great thing it auto configures.. for the cards in sonar.

I only use the USB ederol interface which is quite inexpensive but works really well for cakewalk. (less than 100.00) and ya can record in 24bit/48.000hz which is a really nice recording quality. 8)

I still get some really clean recordings from HS 04. but have other software to replace it.

PM me if I can help further.

Thanks Brian I will.. Just a follow up for those if they are following this thread. I got a response back from Cakewalk tech support and he said to use the wdm drivers. When I switched to them I still didnt have 3/4 outputs so I selected default drivers Lola! I have all ins and outs now.

Did not have any midi inputs which I never used any way but last weekend I wound up with 2 guitars plugged into the mixer and they were wanting a drum machine.... I had an old Sb Live audio board which I reinstalled and now have full use of the midi's Now it'll take me another 6 months to learn how to run them

Then I downloaded the Sonar 3 Producer demo It is awesome but I dont know if I'll ever splurge for it.....

All in all the delta 44 is a good audio board...and works good with Homestudio 04
