Is there a website where I could purchase individual karaoke files in mp3+CDG format?

dunno about INDIVIDUAL, but you can always check Top Hits Monthly, Chartbuster, etc.

Or buy the discs, or custom discs and convert them yourself!

Depending on your interpitation of legalties--> cavsusa.com at 2 bucks a shot with discounts at 5. You do have to convert to cdg graphics format
(.mcg to .cdg) That's still about $30 a cd.

purchased tracks from CAVS are 100% legal! They have got the rights to those... and if you buy their converter, you can convert LEGALLY to a cdg format.

Now, if you take cdgs and convert them, THEN you run into a legalities issue... I personally think you can. You've bought it. And for home use only, the Fair Use Act DOES give you the right to do so.

But professional (i.e. commercial) is where the true legalities seem to arise.

It's in the hands of the courts IF they ever wanna go there. They're obviously going to have to the more and more indepth that people are going. But many of today's newer players for home and pro use have hard drives that allow you to digitally store movies, sounds, etc... up to 60 hours worth!! And going higher. The manufacturers of today's audio and video equipment ARE going there, primarily backed by the Fair Use Act...

However, the courts will have to decide the commercial aspect.
