Would appreciate if experienced KJ's would voice their opinions or recommendations on karaoke hosting software. Wanting to do karaoke gigs at country western night clubs and need recommendations on which hosting software to use (CompHost, Siglos Professional, Sax n Dotty, Just Karaoke, Karma Karaoke). I've got most of the karaoke hardware with lots of cd+g discs. Want to go digital. Also have Pilot Song Book Creator and Power CD+G burner. Thanks!

Your best option is going to be to download the trial versions and decide what you what you like and go from their.

Personally I use Siglos Pro, but part of that decision was based on price and features compared to the more expensive ones.

Now that the makers of CompuHost have released the KJ Media Pro hard drive loaded with all of Chartbusters music on it so that you can purchase credits and unlock songs as needed I can see where CompuHost has an advantage over the others, except in the case where the KJ has been in the biz for years and already owns a huge percentage of the 11,000 songs.

I use Compuhost because I like the way it does rotation, the fact that you can add KJ Media Pro HD and an integrated kiosk (Song Request Station) to the already fully featured software. The only downside is that it does not play video or discs and that it costs so much.

But I also suggest you try the demos out there because one software might do most of what you want while another doesn't have most of the features you want.

I use CompuHost because I feel it provides the best overall package. The scrolling marquee is the best in the business, and it's ability to add promo trailers to the rotation list coins money for the venue and makes it easy to communicate with my singers. The video bits and audio bits allow you to do more promo and more fun things, very easily. The search with easy click-tab-to-sort approach makes it clear how to properly search even for newbies.

I have also come to appreciate Siglos Pro. I recently sold my copy with a complete system (from one of my old rigs) and had to learn it to do so. Even the older version I had was pretty good, and I suspect they have improved it.

Ditto this statement. What is A-One software for one person, may not be what someone else need. I prefer MTU Hoster after testing everything else.

Ditto!

Sax and Dotty's for me...Simple to use, small footprint, cheap, not a resource hog since it is a front end for Winamp. And you can use all the cool Winamp plugins too.

I used to use Sax N Dotty and then moved over to Karma (note, I did not say "moved up to")...both fine programs, as are the others mention here.
Just find the one that works for you and THAT is the best one to use.

Started out with PCDJ blue quickly got away from it. Used Sax & Dotty for a few years (tried Siglos) switched over to Karma and stopped looking at anything else. For me the the simplicity (and good looks) as well as function of Karma left everything else in the dust.

I also use CompuHost because I think it's the best, but you need to try them out for yourself and then decide.

If you're looking for something simple and reliable i would highly recommend Roxbox. I've been using this software for 6 years now and have never looked back. There are constantly new updates and there isn't a more straightforward software on the market ( and believe me there isn't a software i haven't tried ). Granted, everyone likes something different, but definitely grab the demo of Roxbox and give it a try :D
