For those of who may wonder, tricerasoft is selling music maestro on their download site. I asked them about this, because i thought the company was dead. For the orignal question and their response check out this link. http://www.tricerasoft.com/cgi-bin/tick ... 9698572326 i'm really disappointed tho, the entire catalog was converted at 128 bit. Maybe if enough people complained they would start doing something about it. |

so what's the big deal about 128-bit, any higher is not noticable by the average karaoke singer.... not enough trained ears out there that know the difference. |

The issue for me is that I CAN tell the difference, especially if the music is run through a really high end system. If i were stilling running karaoke, I would want to provide my customers with the highest quality that I was able to get. Just a personal preference |

Just a personal preference And when it gets right down to it, that's all it really is. You can have equipment "up the wazoo" (sorry mtnkaraoke) but if the singers are there to sing but mostly to enjoy themselves with their friends, they really won't care, much less notice. |

Karaoke-Version also uses some Music Meastro tracks, check out their Elvis songs, it's the velvet collection and not compressed at 128k;-) They have tons of Music Maestro tracks with a new graphic |

Yes you're right -- most singers are just there to have a good times with friends. On the other hand (ear) I do note that if I host too many nights in a row I start to develop a little ear fatigue occasionally -- mostly because of the war between crowd noise and music noise -- and poor quality recordings become very noticeable to me at that point. Not necessarily because I think, "geesh, 128 bit" but more like "Man, my ears need a break from this." |

That is completely FALSE, all our Music Maestro tracks have been supplied with 160 and 192 bitrate - the majority is 192. And we have the whole catalog from the REAL owner, not some pirated crap like those other places. Rest assured we have NOT sacrificed quality nor our integrity. |

I just got a mail from Tricerasoft. They were upset because I had said that their MM library was ripped at 128 and that it wasn't true. I just double checked, and they are correct. the song I downloaded was at 160. I think what happened is I was confusing the song that I had downloaded at a different site with the one I had gotten from tricerasoft. I would like to apologize to everyone here and to Tricerasoft for causing the confusion. mea culpa -James |

As a side note, I always thought that 192 was CD quality. apparently i was wrong about that too. Tricerasoft told me that it makes more of a difference in what encoder was used. So i decided to go back and look at some of the songs that I got that are 128 and that I also had on CD and ripped at 192. sure enough even with my sensitive ears, I could NOT tell the difference. So in a club environment, I don't think anyone else would be able to tell either. -James |

Ouch I've seen worst quality than Music Meastro out there Oh I have too. I think Sweet Georgia Brown comes in just under it. MM rock & pop failed miserably, I haven't found or heard any in these catagories i've liked. Now I do have several of their country stuff discs that is tolerable to pretty good. People keep going on about their doo wop and Elvis stuff, I have heard several discs that people bring in to sing, I still don't hear the hype, other than they were songs not available elsewhere which makes them the best versions out there. |

The acoustic version of The Foo Fighters' Times Like These would be a perfect example of a MM track that is the best because it is the only one I could find. |

We have alot of MM discs but I still thought it was a hilarious comment. I fell for the Doo Wop hype also but found that the main value was in the rarities and not the execution. "Band of Gold comes to mind as a song I had to replace due to the words being too incorrect to sing. |

I was a MM defender early on because of a couple of country tracks I had found. But as I went to karaoke show after show and was victimized by enough Music Maestro tracks being totally off, I came to the opinion that they really blow big time. Musically, they are not in SGB's class, not even close. SGB has terrible lyrics and production values, but musically they are head and shoulders above Music Maestro. I will not knowingly sing Music Maestro. If I see MM come up on the screen now, I say I would like to change songs or get another version. |

"Eat It" by Wierd Al is a decent track but I agree, most MM tracks are off. |
