I thought it would be interesting to see what people are singing.
I pulled a report…here are my top 40 for the past year.
The first number is the rank the second number is the times it has been sung in the last year.
Interestingly out of the 3178 different songs sung in the last year, 1052 were only done once.
Since 2005 there have been 5295 different songs sung and 1018 have only been done once.
The all time most sung song since 2005 Is “Before He Cheats” having been done 594 times followed closely by “Sweet Caroline” at 574 times. There were a couple of maddeningly monotonous years in there because at least 500 of those times they were done off key.

None of those songs (maybe 5) are what i'd call regular at our show. KMS maybe but not enough to be number 1, My Girl I cannot remember the last time that was sang. I don't have an actual report to give, but i'd put Bodies (Drowning Pool) or Du Hast (Rammstein) up in the lead over any of those. We get more of a rocker crowd that the standard karaoke crowds.
Now I did have an odd crowd tonight over our standard regs & did hear Lady & Wanted Dead Or Alive tonight.

Love seeing this list! I'm in a karaoke band in LA (Casual Encounters "Live-Band" Karaoke) -- as has been said in another post, bands are more restricted in terms of how many songs they can carry, so it's always good to see what's popular and what we should learn. Here's our top 40 for the past year; if anyone else feels like posting theirs, I'd love to see it!

1. Cee-Lo - F#$% You!, 89 plays
2. Journey - Don't Stop Believing, 55 plays
3. Isley Brothers - Shout!, 54 plays
4. Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive, 50
5. Beatles - Come Together, 47
6. Neil Diamond - Sweet Caroline, 45
7. Chuck Berry - Johnny B. Goode, 41
8. Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know, 40
9. Sublime - Santeria, 40
10. Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby, 38
11. Beatles - Twist & Shout, 37
12. Carrie Underwood - Before He Cheats, 36
13. Beatles - Oh! Darling, 36
14. Tina Turner - Proud Mary - 34
15. Melissa Etheridge - I'm The Only One - 33
16. Susan Tedeschi - It Hurt So Bad, 32
17. Billy Idol - Rebel Yell, 32
18. Grease - Summer Nights, 31
19. Britney Spears - Baby One More Time, 30
20. Young MC - Bust A Move, 30
21. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance, 29
22. Beastie Boys - Fight For Your Right, 29
23. Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot, 29
24. House Of Pain - Jump Around, 29
25. Guns 'N' Roses - Sweet Child O' Mine, 28
26. Radiohead - Creep, 28
27. Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But a "G" Thang, 28
28. Salt N Pepa - Shoop, 28
29. Peggy Lee - Fever, 28
30. Sublime - What I Got, 27
31. Stray Cats - Rock This Town, 27
32. Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues, 27
33. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours, 27
34. Rick Springfield - Jesse's Girl, 27
35. Janis Joplin - Me & Bobby McGee, 27
36. Killers - Mr. Brightside, 27
37. Otis Redding - Dock Of The Bay, 27
38. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Under The Bridge, 27

Then "Brown Eyed Girl," "The Middle," "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da," and "Out Tonight" come in with 26.

These are interesting lists, though I wish there was one additional piece of data present. How many different singers are singing each popular song. For example, if I, seattledrizzle, went to Lonman's show every single night for a year and sang Coca Cola Cowboy, then that might end up being at the top of the list, whereas suppose 250 different singers went to Lonman's show and sang Turn the Page. In that case, I think Turn the Page should be more popular than Coca Cola Cowboy because more different people are singning it. Not that I have anything against Coca Cola Cowboy, 'cept I'm a water drinker (not!).

That's a good point, and it's definitely a big factor in my list since we rely heavily on our regulars. I do keep track of different singers, though! Typing out 40 yesterday was a bit of a slog, so here's the top 20 with unique singers:

1. F#@$ You, 48 unique singers this year
2. Don't Stop Believing, 43
3. I Will Survive, 34
4. Santeria, 32
5. Before He Cheats, 29
6. Oh! Darling, 29
7. Radiohead - Creep, 28
8. Nuthin' But a "G" Thang, 27
9. Sweet Caroline, 26
10. Summer Nights, 25
11. Sublime - What I Got, 25
12. Hit Me With Your Best Shot, 23
13. Under The Bridge, 23
14. Sweet Child O' Mine, 22
15. Jason Mraz - I'm Yours, 22
16. Weezer - Say It Ain't So, 22
17. Killing Me Softly, 22
18. You Oughta Know, 21
19. Bad Romance, 21
20. Mr. Brightside, 21
21. Friends In Low Places, 21

Love to see other lists if anyone's got 'em!
