Are you kidding me? $.60 per song? And I get to pick all 500? All are Chartbuster? Sounds like a great deal right?

Yep and I jumped right on it.

Got a call from Chartbuster trying to sell me the 6000 songs I saw on some other post. Great deal but I have a lot of those 6000 songs already and I know not if anyone would request the ones I don't have. Was suggested I could buy the 6000 and sell my cdgs. Once he understood I didn't want those songs then he offered me the 500 song credits for $300. These from my KJMP HD. So not only do I get 500 songs at 60 cents apiece, I get to choose all 500. If they do this for all that have Compuhost and the HD, you all better get on board! Nuts not too!

The only problem I told him about was the fact that locked songs won't show up on my karaoke kiosk to which he said that was controlled by Invicion. Maybe so but it's money out of CB's pockets since the locked songs don't show on my kiosk computer, people won't request them!

Still, I can buy all the new songs coming out at a great price and skip the ones I don't want!

Maybe you ought to make a book that lists the songs that are not unlocked yet. You could make it a "Songs I can get immediately if requested" book. Keep it by your kiosk for singers to browse while others are imputing their requests.

I've thought about that. What a pain! I've bought everything Invicion has, time for THEM make their products work with each other.

i dunno i still have my doubts because I used to charge for the downloaded tracks i did. I just have this senario keep popping into my brain.

Some person finds a song that isn't currently in my catalog and doesn't pay attention to the posted sign that tracks with the lock need to be pay for. They cue it up anyway, and since credits are automatically deducted, it cues the song up. Now i have to go up to the person and tell them they owe me $5 for the song they just sang(yes i regularily had people paying this for the downloaded tracks i did*. Dollars to donuts that person wouldn't come back, whether or not they paid.

It doesn't take that much longer to look up a song and cue it manually, especially since I got a lot of people who never bothered to actually LOOK at what i had, they just came up and asked me for the song they wanted.

I can't get the kiosk to cooperate with me network wise. had it working one night under test conditions, go to a show and walla the kiosk can't find the server. No changes in between in software or hardware. So I've decided to instead use the free viewer which allows me to display both what I have and what the KJ Media Pro has. Basicaly I made an electronic songbook. I am going to be redoing my books and considering adding the KJ Media Pro to that as well.

Huh? You charged 5 bucks a song? I wouldn't come back either! Don't understand your comment "It doesn't take that much longer to look up a song and cue it manually" Doesn't take that much longer to look it up in a book?

If that is what you mean, you are right, it doesn't take much longer. It's the wear and tear on the books, the updating the books (both time and money), it's the trying to read in the dark part.

I think he meant he charged that to download a song for someone on the spot. I don't agree with that, that is part of a kj's expense - new music.
However I still wouldn't pay that as a singer.

That's exactly how I read it, charging the singers 5 bucks to pay for a song he was downloading. Doubt I would have very many singers at that price.

Do you already own the KJMPHD. I was able to buy 100 credits for $100. A good deal for me.

OK... I am disc based, so I just want to ask. How does that work? Do you have to spend a credit for every song that is sung? Are these songs you get to keep in your system once you've used them, or do they go back into whatever (to be paid for again on the next use)? Or, is this just for songs you didn't have in your system to begin with... and again, do you get to keep them once you paid a credit for it? Or, does that 500 credits (plus the 35 you already have) work out to about 9 shows?

Yes you do keep the song on your system forever so you can play them over and over never costing additional credits. You are buying the song as if you purchased the disc and transfered it to the hd with one difference. The unlocked song now contains a wartermark the identifies what kjmphd it originated from show you as the original owner. The drive you get from Chartbuster contains All the songs currently licensed to them and every month they upload to your drive any additional songs they have aquired. You unlock the song (using 1 credit) then it places the unlocked/watermarked in any folder you desiginat on your computer. You can unlock a song on each drive only once so if you wanted to have additional copies for additional systems you would have to have an additional kjmphd for each system. If you already have a song copied from a disc (1:1) non your system them in that case you could unlock the same song just once on the drive and place that watermarked song on another system. It is also a great way to put an additional system into service and just unlock the songs as requested. On side note, the drive will only allow you to unlock the song through Compuhost but after you have unlocked it (the song) you can play the track using the karaoke software of your choice.

Hope this information helps.

Yes, I got free drinks at the last gig I had. So anyone who purchased a song thatI didn't already have got a 'free' drink plus a chance to win a prize at the end of the month. All my prizes were worth at least $50 usually more cause I also got a discount at an electronics store. I didn't charge to sing for songs that were already in my catalog if that's what you thought.

And no, I wasn't necessarily talking about books. Someone would come up to me and say 'Do you have X by Y" and I'd look and if I had it, it took me 5 seconds to cue it up, if I didn't but it was in the Tricerasoft catalog i'd say "I don't currently have it, but for $5 I can purchase and download it, and have it cued for the next rotation, it comes with a free drink and a chance to win a $50 prize at the end of the month" and more often than not they'd say ok, and that would only take me a few minutes to cue up, mostly because of the download time. With the medio pro drive system the whole process would take less than 30 seconds.

My point is that if the songs were listed in the kiosk you could be paying for a whole bunch of songs that might only get used once or twice, which would make the whole system less cost effective.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

If they get more for their $5 than just to buy a song to sing that you will now have forever, that's a little different. Not going to analyze if what have going is a good for the customer.

As far as cost effective, how effective is it to buy a disc for $10 to $30 and only one or two get sung. Ever. That's pretty expensive 2 songs whether they get sung once or 30 times. My $.60 per song is about as cost effective as it gets without stepping into the "pirate" price range!
