I do not mind buying singles at 99 cents even 1.49, but the guys who run karaoke around me seem to be using Chart Buster?

I want to buy singles just to practice before going out to karaoke.

I want Maxwell's Silver Hammer in the style of the Beatles with lyrics just like during Karaoke.

Is there anywhere I can buy an accurate single for practice?

I have purchased several tracks from Karaoke Version. When I'm looking for something odd that is not either on a disc, is on a disc where I already have the other tracks or something that nobody else would want at our shows (that I just want to sing at home), I buy it there.

They are consistently good tracks.

Thank you for the leads:

I found SBI stands for "Not in the style of"

Sunfly was a teensy bit slow.

Music Maestro had an odd note thrown in at the end of each line. :?

Below for above comments:

Chartbuster sounded the best BUT!!!
Two things about Chartbuster
1. The singles are 1.99 a little above my 1.49 max I thought I should pay for a single.
2. No video of the lyrics in the sample!!!

Even though I like the Chartbuster version better I may buy Music Maestro mainly due to no video of the lyrics in the sample!

You are going to find every brand has their hits & misses. No brand gets it every time, some are more consistant than others and some are hard pressed to find a good version from them at all - but they all have their diamonds in the rough. There are versions of songs from every brand you listed that are the best of any other recreation. Karaoke manus are ALL 'in the style of' except a very limited brand like Original Karaoke & some of the Motown tracks in which they both use the original music.

Keep in mind as far as price is concerned, these are not like I-Tunes tracks or mp3's. You can't expect to pay an mp3 price for a track with graphics.

I remember when custom discs first came out, before downloads. Tracks were $5 each, and you had to purchase a minimum of five. Considering the only other way to get a track was to buy an entire disc, so you'd often get a bunch of crap you never wanted and paid $25 for the privilege, I don't think that $1.99 is a high price to pay to get the exact track you want.

Good luck with your search.

I am only talking about Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
I have not looked at this point at other songs.

In this particular case SBI was the odd duck.
The instruments were not the same.
In only this case, "to me", it was the most "off style" of the four samples.

It seems I can always find a $12 disk with 6 songs on it. $2 per song.

I would have liked to find one for a little less considering I was looking on the internet and have many choices for final vendors and also I was willing to get a download instead of getting a disk.

Also considering I have bought 3702 CD+G Nutech CAVS songs for $49.95 = 13.5 cents each.

If you want original sounding, Nu-Tech is probably not going to satisfy you. They are one of the brands that are hard pressed to find that diamond.
$1.99 is pretty much the standard rate for downloaded karaoke songs with graphics.

Since SC doesn't make songs anymore, my go to for new songs has been either SBI or Chartbuster. I really like SBI, but they definately are better at things like Katy Perry or maroon 5, and classic rock. The country is hit or miss. Just my thoughts. $1.99 is a good deal for a karaoke song.

Another option for at home practice is youtube. search your song followed by karaoke. They have a large selection.

Keep in mind, when you are looking at SBI, that's not $1.99 USD... It's Pounds. The conversion rate is about 1 Pound = $1.60 USD... So, 10 songs would cost you about $32 USD from SBI.

Cue,

If you buy direct from SBI the songs are 1.66 Pounds each so that would come out to about 27 USD. If you get the SBI songs from Tricerasoft they are 2.50 USD (used to be 1.99 each) if you get them a-la-carte. If you open an account and purchase credit packs the price goes down depending on how many credits you buy. They just had a sale where everything was 1.30 a song. Great way to get just the songs you want for a reasonable price.

Karen, I was just pointing out the fact that SBI wasn't in USD, so the price that JohnD was talking about is really higher.

Post subject:  Re: Buy singles

You're right when buying direct from SBI and that doesn't count the bank fee that gets added to convert dollars to pounds for both SBI and Select a Track, which will make it even higher. That's one of the reasons I prefer Tricerasoft or Karaoke Version, they don't have that added charge.
