Hey all, looking into putting another set up together. I really do not want to go active speakers, I am a fan of my separate amps, etc. Having said that, what are your thoughts on speakers, 800w, primarily used for music BUT occasionally used for Karaoke. I already have a set up we use for mostly Karaoke, so not to worried there. Thanks for your input. **do not let cost be the determination here. But rather sound quality, durability etc. (I will be using subs with this set up)** |

Yamaha Stage Pass 500 - has reverb and compression settings for mics and sounds pretty good in most venues. |

I have to disagree on the active speakers - I've used them for the last 9 years with no problems. Previous to this I've had practically new amps die in the middle of a gig. At least with active, I don't have to stop. I've used the JBL EON (15") speakers. Previously, I've used mackie amps and a number of different brands of speakers. If I was going to go back to amps, I'd also go back to using my Klipsch subwoofer. It has a very full and rich sound for vocals - much better than any other subwoofer I've ever used. |

And if cost was no concern, the QSC KW152 for tops & QSC KW181 for the subs. Great for music system as well as karaoke. But they are spendy for the entire system, but very worth it for sound quality! If you were going to get separate components (amps, crossovers, speakers) with the same specs, you'd be paying as much if not more. |

Can not work that one out. Never heard subwoofer and vocals put together like that before. Was it Lee Marvin's rig? |

It was hooked to a 1400w Mackie amp and I have another amp that is hooked to 2 Bose mid/highs. When used for karaoke, the Klipsch has a much "smoother" sound than the bose sub. The bose sub however, is much better for a hard-driving, pounding "dance thump" for straight DJ jobs. |

No mate. It is not which sub is better for vocals. Vocals are not really in the frequency range of a sub. |

I'll tell you what: you come back to the U.S. and I'll hook up each one in succession for you to sing through. No other changes will be made other than which sub is hooked up. If you decide that there is no difference, or that the Bose is better, I'll buy your Ranch Dressing for the entire time you're here and even pay for your audiology test. While it's true that most people don't sing in that range (except for Thurl Ravenscroft who is now dead), their voice (and the music) does have a different sound depending on the devices it goes through. The Klipsch doesn't have the same "pop" as the Bose - it seems to be a smoother (or "slower" action for lack of a better term) than the Bose. There are distinct differences in the sound of these two. Even if none of the other components are changed at all. |

No Chip. It can effect the tonal qualities of a song, but the vocals are not in sub frequencies. It will effect the bass frequencies around the vocals. |

Because the tonal qualities (and reaction speed) DO in fact, make a difference on whether you'd want to sing with Klipsch or Bose subwoofer.... and which one "sounds better" for singing. You get half the Ranch because I'll go 50/50 with you. I'll buy it, you ship it. |
