Are there any other databases out there besides the following? kjpro.com musicbookdeluxe.com I know different vendors have their own DB's for their products, but I am looking for more comprehensive DB's. I understand CDDB can be used by apps, but I did not find an end-user capable search like the other two. -Chris |

Good luck. It's best to bite the bullet and use as much as you can from these vendors and type the rest yourself. |

KJ Pro seems to be the most accurate by far, with one glaring exception that probably won't effect you. However, those hosts using Top Tunes will note that virtully every disc listing is incorrect. This was was caused by the mfr., not KJ Pro. The songs are usually correct, but listed in a different order than what's on the disc. Since TT is OOB under that label, it shouldn't be a problem, though I would be very careful of anything under their Karaoke Bay label. Just do a quick double check of the track listing with the disc before entering. Other than that, KJ Pro seems to be pretty darned accurate, and certainly the most comprehensive of the DBs. |

KJpro's database is by far inferior to music book deluxe which has the entire GEM series compared to the 60 of the 200 discs that are listed in KJPro's database. |

In my experience, MDB has far more data errors that will have to be corrected before entry than KJ Pro. While MDB may have listed the entire GEM series, it seems that KJ Pro has a more comprehensive database, meaning more songs and a more complete listing of mfr. choices for those songs, including out of print discs that can still be found in circulation and for sale. That being said, neither database is anywhere near complete, nor error free. They are simply what's available. |

Sorry Chris can't help....every cotton picking single track has been entered by hand since the beginning due to my "disc whore master" husbands OCD...we outgrew excel and had to go to Lotus...I hate it...I hate it...I hate it |

Go back to Excel. Excel 2007 and later can handle more rows than there are CD+G's even made. 1,048,576 rows by 16,384 columns since 2007 using thge .docx extension -Chris |

cant........ we have too many line entries excel wont handle it unless we break the books in two parts....excel was a pain too...Hubby wants every track graded and sooo many fields in master book. We only print non-dupes but have 3 systems currently (only using 1 right now sigh) and most of a 4th library in process. I would love to use any software as the data entry is a pain even if I need to do corrections |

Actually, you are somewhat correct because if you have that much data saved in the Lotus file then there is no easy way to convert the data. We dropped support for Lotus file support so we won't even import Lotus files any more. The normal workaround is to use Lotus to "Save As....Excel 97(.xls)" format then load into Excel 2007 or later. But you apparently have too much data to do that with. There are always ways to move data. They just may not be too friendly. Having never used Lotus in my life, I don't know if it has the ability to save to a .CSV file or not, but that would be another option. Export to .CSV then import the .CSV to an Excel 2007 or later system. I really am very sorry you have to use Lotus -Chris |

Never liked spreadsheets for managing karaoke books. Especially Lotus 1-2-3, which I had some experience with oh... 25 years ago when it was popular and ppl actually used it. Going from Excel to Lotus, I'd think, would be a step backward, not to mention complete overkill for a karaoke book. But, I suppose if that's what you're used to, so be it. Plus, if you're still listing every version of every song in your book... well, that's another debate I've always managed my own book with Access. It will handle all the data I can throw at it, and I can output to books just what I need through reports. Simple, efficient, powerful. |

Oh....I don't use any spreadsheet for songbooks. Song List Generator from Latshaw generates my books. I only manage my collection/inventory within Excel. I have separate worksheets for manufacturers and I use formulas to generate disc counts and lists of missing discs to hunt down. -Chris |

If Songlist generator used CSV files then I would consider it due to column choices but it doesn't so I use Fast Tracks Plus. |

KJ Pro for me, and if you were using Excel previously, all info can be imported with a single click. Enter the disc #, and after a double check, all info ( Artist, title, disc#, track #) instantly entered. Single click to print by Artist, Title, Disc, or Disc Catalogue. Choice of fonts and layouts, of course. Single click filtering to make specialty books. Doesn't suck. |
