A karaoke singer whose performance was met by a cascade of boos at an Ohio bar allegedly punched three people in the face after he was asked to leave the watering hole Tuesday night, police report.
Isiah Johnson, 20, was singing karaoke at Cabana Jack’s “when people started booing at him,” a bartender told cops. In response to the razzing, Johnson “threw down the microphone,” (That's a beatin' right there) according to a Sandusky Police Department report.
At that point, Johnson, pictured in the above mug shot, was escorted from the bar. After returning, he was again asked to leave. That’s when Johnson allegedly began punching guys in the face (three men were hit, cops noted).
Johnson was eventually pinned to the ground by two other men until police arrived. He was “noticed to be under the influence of intoxicants,” reported cops who charged Johnson with three counts of assault, obstruction, resisting arrest, persistent disorderly conduct, intoxication, and underage consumption.
The police report does not indicate what song Johnson was allegedly butchering when the Cabana Jack’s crowd turned on him.

Ok.
I can see a singer being bad. Happens all the time. Even I can do that bit.
Why not rip his heart out by booing him. Leave him so distraught that all he can do is lash out. Obviously the drugs weren't working very well.
Have any of you KJ's here ever heard someone boo'd. I haven't. Was it a hockey song? A football song? How would you feel if you were boo'd. Yes I know... You might just politely go quietly and slit your wrists.
To boo someone is like beating the sh1t out of them.

I agree Jerry, I have not seen a fight over karaoke or heard anyone get booed in the 13 years Ive been doing this. The lowered self esteem is usually achieved by the crickets at the end of the song and though not as powerful as a boo, still very very depressing. Just notice how if anybody claps, its always the people that come for karaoke that are clapping first. Other people may be there for other reasons and might clap, but the ones that are there for karaoke are generally good hearted people and give respect for that person having the gump to get up and sing even if they might shouldn't.
Now I have seen patrons at a bar throw out a guys for deliberately dropping my mic. No fight, just 8 guys greeting the goober at the stage exit and letting him know he was no longer welcome. That was awesome!

I am 100% with Jerryx on this. The few times that I've heard someone start I've walked over and gotten right in their face. After a bit of chewing, I explain that I don't run a gong show, and by the way, he's next ( if he's not a singer). They generally end up leaving, which is fine by me.

I don't tolerate booing either. If it happens, I call the person out and let them know in no uncertain terms that it's unacceptable. I also tell them that if they continue, I will make them get up and do better. One caveat, though. I pick the song.

He’s probably singing that tiresome, annoying song “My Way” Read this old New York Times Asia Pacific Edition article titled “Sinatra Song Often Strikes Deadly Chord”. They take it too seriously over there. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/07/world ... raoke.html

We had an incident where the singer was being heckled and before I could explain that we don't do that, the singer flipped off the hecklers and they charged the stage. Beer and bodies were flying and the boyfriend and I could only throw ourselves over the equipment to try and protect it. End of show. Quit that town until recently when the place got new owners.
Another time someone audilby complained and I went over with a big smile and told her that the rules of karaoke are that the person who boos is next. She stood up and proceeded to inform me as to who would be making the rules. Had to have intervention on that one.
It's a touchy business.....
