Does anyone know if there is a collection of 30's and 40's era karaoke music? I have a gig for a 90th birthday and they have requested music from these decades. Thanks.

Spans music from the 20's-early 50's and some standards like Tony Bennett, Sinatra, Ella Fitazgerald, etc.

I love the Big Band Era and probably the BEST discs I've heard are PS1145 and 1146. Pocket Songs did these right, they used the original arrangements and hired a real Big Band to record them. Both discs include songs from Glenn Miller, Harry James, Jimmy Dorsey and a couple from Louis Armstrong.

While most seem to overlook them except for showtunes, for the most part, I don't think the so called big 3 can hold a candle next to Pocket Songs when it comes to the Big Band sound.

The legends 109 disc has some long trumpet intros, but the songs are great.

I think SGB1 and 2 might also have some good jazz on them. They may have long instrumental sections, though.

I think the Pocket Songs the with and without vocal versions, so it can help you learn those with which you are less familiar.

Pioneer Laser series had a great version of Chattanooga Choo Choo, (I think) I've Got a Gal in Kalamazoo, and Mood Indigo.

You might be able to find a version of the Beer Barrel Polka somewhere!

I would bet there are a lot of songs from the Musical Oklahoma available on karaoke. Oklahoma came out in the 1940's.

I also have a Harold Arlen disc, PSCDG 1077 but don't know many of the songs.

Pocket Songs 1305 is an all Andrews Sisters disc and has a good version of Beer Barrel Polka plus a lot of their more famous hits.

All Hits 8012 has some good songs from that era. I really like their version of Moonlight Serenade.

I actually like the Sound Choice version of Chattanooga Choo Choo the best even over the Pocket Songs track.
