I know there will be folks that start asking questions about my new gig as a means of turning this into a negative. I am addressing the most obvious question here in an attempt (feeble?) to keep the other thread as clean as possible.

Q - You already have a show and have only certified one library. How will you run shows on concurrent nights with one library?

A - I am fortunate that I have the resources to pick up a GEM series on short notice if the need be. I have already touched based with Kurt Slep to let him know that I will likely be picking up a GEM collection soon. However....

I already had some significant disc purchases in the works that I need to let settle before I make a decision. Until then I will be splitting the library and monitoring requests.

For the first Friday show (no concurrent show), I will move my entire library to the new gig. For the first Saturday show (when I will have concurrent shows), I am going to look at song history for my original gig and pull out the tracks that the regulars sing to leave at my original show. I am going lean in favor of the NEW show for songs that I believe to be popular and would be requested at the new gig.

I also have a fair number of duplicate discs from my acquisitions over the past 8 months. I have been very detailed in my cataloging and inventory and I keep my duplicates (and tiples and quads) physically seperated for inventory purposes.

I also picked up TWO of the Chartbuster 12000 drives back in December. One stays with the original gig and the other now goes to the new gig.

In a few weeks when I have established the show and 1) have a better fell for what the new shows requests; 2) have finalized my disc purchasing and inventory; I will begin the process for an additional Sound Choice audit for the new show.

In short - I planned ahead for this expansion. I will now start planning for a third concurrent show.

-Chris

Concurrent, meaning one after another... there's is no problem with using the same library at both shows. It's a problem if you have two gigs running at the same time/same day.

Did I misunderstand something?

It sounds like he means two simultaneous shows. You are right about the meaning of concurrent, Lisa.

An obvious question to Chris.
The gem license says you can not split it between two systems. Are you just going to use the cb drive and what ever other complete discs you have in your library?

We has a thread a while ago about do we buy discs or tracks and the answer was discs, so we could not split the tracks on a disc to two systems.

Or did I misunderstand you?

He did mention that he has doubles, triples and Quadruples of some of his disks.

I seem to remember CB being asked about splitting discs if you had 2 of the same song on a disk (ex: 8+8 or 8 CDG and 8mp3+g on the same disc). She came back after checking with her legal dept and said yes you could as you had paid for 2 copies of the song. So you could get double duty out of one disc when trying to put together a second system.

I don't have a GEM series yet.

My "split" is to take some duplicate discs to the new show and individual tracks to the new show.

I actually had not considered the concept of groups of tracks being bound to a disc after being ripped. Now I am concerned about having say.....1/2 of the SC8125 tracks at one show and half at another. Obviously a physical disc can't be split, but once ripped the tracks are unbound.

However, this may be a moot point for me given a late breaking development with my original show. More later on that.

Could be legal issues IMO. If you only ran off discs, you wouldn't be able to select which songs to bring to the second show, you would have to choose entire discs - not splitting them half here, half there.
