One everyone knows with some good blues harmonica is Roadhouse Blues by The Doors.

I'm a harmonica player...not a pro, but not a beginner, somewhere in the intermediate skill range.

These days, I only do my harmonica songs by request, at the risk of looking pretenscious, but here's the ones I do:

Roadhouse Blues - The Doors
Mary Jane's Last Dance - Tom Petty
Heart of Gold - Neil Young
Low Rider - War
Piano Man - Billy Joel
Please Please Me - Beatles
What I Like About You - Romantics

We also have a true harp player that comes in once in a while, this guy blows (and not in the bad sense) - he plays during his song for the instrumental breaks & some accents throughout the verses when he can fit it in there. True blues man!
Then occasionally I have another guy that 'blows'! Worst I ever heard.

I've played harmonica in a part-time rock/blues band for the last 25 years. I've been hosting karaoke for nearly 3 years now. In addition to the songs listed above some of my favorite songs with harmonica in them are:

Keep On Smiling - Wet Willie
She Caught The Katy - Blues Brothers
Flip Flop & Fly - Blues Brothers
Hey Bartender - Blues Brothers
First I Look at the Purse - J. Geils Band
Ain't Nothing But A Party - J. Geils Band
Must of Got Lost - J. Geils Band
Hoochie Coochie Man - Muddy Waters
Mannish Boy - Muddy Waters
Midnight Rambler - Rolling Stones

I find that playing harmonica on songs that didn't originally have harmonica on them works well, also. That way you are not playing on top of another harmonica. I particularly enjoy doing Eric Clapton and B.B. King songs using a call - response method along with the guitar leads.

Many of my singers will choose songs that harmonica fits in on and ask me to play along. Folsom Prison Blues, Kansas City, Texas (When I Die), Spirit In The Sky & I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow are a few of them.

I have never thought he was very good, but it is entertaining to watch.

I've never done Low Rider but it would be a nice tribute to Lee Oskar.

Thanks for the replies, I've checked out some of the tracks listed but still have some to go. Listening to them has been great fun. I've also been listening to Gerry Rafferty, even when he doesn't include harmonica, his use of strong instrumental solos makes an interesting listen. Thanks again, Ian

One song I would sing occasionally if it had a decent harp is Jimmy Buffet Fins. The harp solo is the highlight of the song, and the ones for both SC and Legends are lame.
