Sure.............I'll hop on a plane and fly right over. LOL. You might just need, between you and the venue, to do some advertising. Good luck.

Hi John,

I would be happy to assist. I am not sure what style singer you are looking for. However, please look me up on Youtube. I have posted about 60 songs Under my other name "Misso D'Egitto". Here is a sample of what I do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_mM0wV1j2I .

If you think I can help contact me here "kingtut_king at yahoo dot com". Be Well.

Gosh Rock, There aren't any customer at your show that would be willing to do that for you? Why aren't you doing the first song.....

I never do the first song. I go through the rotation before I sing.

I always do first song if for anything more than to make sure all is working, then will tend to not sing anymore throughout the night.

I normally sing at the end of each rotation, unless someone asks me to do a duet with them. If I don't sing, people start asking me to.

I too, always do the first song...never fails something will be wrong if I don't. I don't do my own setups anymore...the kid that does rarely does a sound check. I do the sound check when I get there.. but there's always the chance that something won't work right once the show starts and I HATE that!!! After that first song, I only sing when asked. 28+ singers in a lineup means I shouldn't sing. Besides, most don't want to be first!! LOL

I'm not big enough to have roadies. LOL. I set up my own stuff. I don't suppose I will ever have roadies. If it gets to the point where I can't pick up my own equipment, then it is time to quit.

Well, I could quit but my boss would kill me!! LOL I am an old lady... (56) and have a torn rotator cuff (which my doctors are dragging their feet about)... so my bosses son sets me up.. and not well.. I get to work an hour early to make sure the subs aren't plugged in to the mains amp.... make sure the video works.. move the table out so I can get behind it.. LOL It might be easier if he just put the equipment in place and I do the rest.. NAW he'd put in in the WRONG place and I can't move it!! LOL But my boss says I can't quit.. no one can replace me (his words!)

My boss won't let me go either. He can't replace me. Though, I would not replace my boss, either. As a guy that is 12 years younger than you, please don't say you're old. That would make me, elderly.

Ummmm, I don't think being 12 years younger than me makes you 'elderly'!!!

I'm a young 56 and proud of it.. I love the 'kids' that come to my shows! And I love my boss... therefore I wouldn't quit, when he retires, I retire.... but with this economy, poor guy can't retire for a very long time :( I will stop being the 'Karaoke Queen' though!! 3 or 4 more years at most.

Oh...and it's not my hubby that taught me to sing...was my boss, that's how I got the job in the first place: he taught me to sing and the next thing I knew I was the assistant manager/dj/kj/computer tech! LOL

i'm a young 44, so I know how you feel. I wish you were closer. I would love to come out and see your show. I always like a good show. As for singing, I will continue that until my throat falls out.

I sing the First song in every rotation. I get a good Cheer going because everyone who follows my turn is coming up next. "AND NOW THE MOMENT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR,, IT'S MY TURN!"
I had a Rodie once, he said he would do it for the Groupies! Problem was that I didn't have any.

Only reason I don't sing every round is because as a singer I hate to see the host sing. IMO it's at least one more chance per round that a paying singer can sing. If I get a request I may squeeze it in, but not as a rule.
Tonight I was a paying patron at my own show (came in on my other hosts night) & got 2 songs in in 2 1/2 hours.

That has never bothered me, unless the host was a terrible singer. I have been to many different Karaoke shows since 1994, and the host has sang in just about all of them. It's his/her show, let em' have there turn. They are there to entertain, as well as run the music. That's how I see it.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong, I just feel for my business, my hosts will not sing (unless circumstances say they should) because it's at least one song per rotation that a paying customer is not going to be able to get to do. I didn't get into hosting to sing, I personally got into hosting to do what I would like to see done at another hosts show.

It all depends. If it's really busy I won't sing, unless asked. But if it's slow, (and let me tell ya, around here, most shows are pretty slow since the economy tanked), there's no reason not to sing. I'm not in a city. All the shows are small time around here. That, and the crowds are fickle. If there is a band in town that everyone loves, well, guess where they all go? It's hit or miss. And it's not one show that's like that, it's all of them. So here the hosts can actually play the roll of filler, many nights.

Post subject:  Re: Singers Wanted

It is a judgement call. If busy I pull myself out of the lineup... UNLESS everyone is singing ballads. What is it with those nights? Anyway, I will probably throw myself in there to liven things up!
Otherwise if there are more than 12-15 singers .. which there usually are, then I don't sing unless asked. I will do the last song if I feel like it, but usually not.
