Other than Text Live does anyone know of other services either web based or by cell phone for requesting songs?

I would like for our singers to be able to just text their request in but I don't want to use my cell phone number and I really don't want to go get another cell phone just for the service.

There are several however do you really want to lose the interaction of the customer which I have noticed with this technology? I don't allow phone requests anymore because I don't get the interaction.

Yeah, I agree. There was someone on this site that was going to set up his equipment so it could be remote controlled, and he was going to run his show while he was sitting at home in his pajamas.

Worst idea I have ever heard. Karaoke isn't 100% about the singing. It's a SHOW. If you could run a show remotely, then there is no need for a host, they could just be replaced by a kiosk.

Now, if you could run a show remotely, but hang out in the bar as a hologram....lol

Think it was Toger........ :lol: ...I heard he was doing it for about 3 weeks, and some slick host slipped in and stole his gig, while he wasn't there..... :lol: .....just kidding....

It would be easy to do. Just set up a reflector via Twilio or one of those. We do that type of thing for businesses. But the going rate for most of these things is FREE, so you don't get many people rushing to provide the service. 8-)

My program actually has the ability to use ipads, iphones, ipods or smartphones etc. with wi-fi. just log onto the wi-fi and then into my service. create user name and you are browsing our song list. It does make it easier to manage singers/songs as it is filled in as each person picks a song and submits it. This is done automatically and it appears on our screen. We do not lose interaction from this because we are constantly mingling with the crowd, having fun with the mic & crowd interaction etc. It truly depends on you and your personality IMO.
If your venue does not have wi-fi you can easily set up a user add-hoc

I use a method where the singer hands me a small slip of paper......transaction takes about 2 seconds, which over a four hour night can accumulate to about 2 minutes......actually often happens during my mingling...... :)

Biggest bennifit i see is i never have to update my song books. Since its digital its always up to date.
