Karaoke-Version, SBI Karaoke, Tricerasoft

Which one of these Download sites have you used to obtain Karaoke songs for use at you shows? If you have used a combination of the above, do you have a preference?

Probably a more effective question would not include Tricerasoft since they distribute SBI and other brands and don't really make tracks themselves.

Of the two you mentioned, I think Karaoke Version is a teensie bit better but more expensive than SBI....

I realize that Tricerasoft does not produce any tracks under their own name; however, besides them mirroring what SBI offers, they also offer Music Maestro. As much as I don't personally care for MM, MM did produce some good tracks out there (I have always rated MM as a 50-50 hit or miss brand). In that respect, they have other songs to offer which SBI doesn't. They might have songs to offer that K-Version doesn't offer as well.

Now, as for me personally, of the names I mentioned, I have only dealt with SBI. When I first ordered from them, I did have problems with the discs I received, but I had found their Customer Service to be excellent as well. They tried to work out the problem with my discs, and eventually, we managed to work out a solution for me (which was for me to receive the files, and then convert them to CD myself). There was one order that I had made with them (about 1 year ago), where I didn't like the version of a particular song they sent me, so I asked if they would send me the other version they had listed for the same song. They did this at no extra charge to me (which they didn't have to).

i have only bought a few tracks directly from SBI. Of the two you mentioned, I use Tricerasoft the most but karaoke does have some pretty decent versions, at least the ones that I have bought.

My second choice would be select-a-track. They have everything that Tricerasoft offers PLUS two brands they don't, AND you can buy a CDG of your music for cheaper.

i use Tricerasoft all the time for the selection, and buying credits in bulk getting a good price per song.
Karaoke Version has some of those great tracks that no one else made, and the quality is really nice, only one bad one so far.
Have not ordered direct from SBI yet. (actually forgot about their own site d'oh)

I've also used Tricerasoft. They offer Sunfly, SBI, and Zoom. All three of them are good but the nice thing is that you can sample versions of the song you want which is usually available by at least 2 of the three. Reasonably priced and good quality. Never had a problem with them.

I primary use Karaoke Version over any of the others due to the fact that you can actually suggest songs to them and they'll get made if enough people vote with you. I will also use SBI if karaoke version doesn't have what I need. That said I look at my KJ Media Pro first before going download because I can get the songs I get requests for instantly without being online while at a show. If the song isn't available on the Drive then I'll wait until I get home to download it if it is available.

Use a second computer. Tricerasoft, for example, allows you to back up your files to a different drive, so, you can download on one computer, say to a USB stick, then you can move it over to your Karaoke rig. You are 1:1, backed up, and the song is ready before the singer's next turn.

I use k-version for downloads only because they don't have disc option. SBI via selectatrack for custom discs.
Karaoke Version often uses the same source as SBI music tracks for their tracks BTW.

Would not work for me. I don't feel like importing the song into my database everytime I load another song which might be every song request. Compuhost won't play anything not in the database unless I use the videobits function but I don't have key control with that. Besides I would have to transfer the database everytime I added a new song to it to my kiosk.

I primarily use tricerasoft, but I do use Karaoke version as well. I have approx 580 song files from mostly tricerasoft. I use Karaoke version when i can't find it on tricerasoft. I like the ease of the search windows quick checkout. I check with them on a daily basis for the Newest songs. I will eventually get the songs on a disc down the road, BUT this gives me special attention from a lot of ppl cause I will have it before anyone else! I really like having at least two versions of every song anyways, just so ppl have a choice of versions. I feel dirty sometimes tho, cause someone can ask "do you have this song" and and I can go "download" it after payment through my paypal acct of course, but they still think I just "downloaded" it!

I must add here as far as these "downloaded" files go. I am still waiting for my SC audit as I am on the voluntary list. Paper work has all been turned in. I have covered my butt on everyone of these song files.
Each song file in kept within it's own folder WITH a receipt.
I copy each email receipt and paste it to notepad and save it within the song file folder. EVERY single one of the 580 song files has it's very own receipt. Overkill? Maybe so, but I am protected without doubt. I then of course back up all of the song folders with receipts on not only another Hd, but also to hard CD as a true Archive. Never used.

According to Tricerasoft, you are not allowed to media shift to disc. It's like the opposite of SC's policy.

3. Songs are licensed for computer use ONLY. Each receipt is licensed for ONE use. Conversion is not covered under our license. Any conversion, transfer, or alteration is strictly forbidden. Alteration of the content can only be done with permission by the manufacturer. Any operation that may cause alteration of the tracks is SOLELY your responsibility and at your own risk. Thank you, I have had several conversations with them. The Majority of my songs is Sunfly versions and the rest SBI. I have spoke to The manufacturers directly.. as you have stated. The WARNING, is just that, from Tricerasoft. A third Party vendor. I understand my rights as they were told to me by the Manufactures. Thank you for your concern.

FIRST and foremost let me address the less important issues:
SBI Karaoke and Karaoke Version, Then I will address the Written permission I have received from SUNFLY.

SBI KARAOKE

In regards to SBI Karaoke, there is no need for me to share the emails I have between us because,
ANYONE, ANYWHERE, THAT HAS EVER BOUGHT A SBI KARAOKE SONG HAS THE RIGHT TO "ARCHIVE, MEDIA-SHIFT OR BURN TO DISC" ANY SONG FILE EVER PURCHASED FROM THEM.
They have updated their site and have already given FULL PERMISSION to "archive, media-shirt and Burn to disc all Content they sell. It is now Expressly posted on their site and ANYONE can read it there. I will even give you the link to the updated PERMISSIONS...

Here is EXACTLY what SBI Karaoke States in their Persmissions for archiving.

Am I allowed to "format shift" my purchased tracks?"

"Yes - the license you purchase allows you to use the tracks in any format. So you can transfer the files to your media player, another computer or burn them to a disc. If in any doubt please ask us. In all cases however you may not give the tracks to another person or party for free or for a fee."
---------------------------------------------------------------

That being said however, there is a fine line:
********************************

Can I copy, duplicate or resell these tracks myself?

"All recordings supplied by SBI are copyrighted, and you must not duplicate, lend, hire out, broadcast, resell the tracks, or in any way breach the licensing agreement without further permission from SBI. We grant you the right to burn downloaded files to the format of your choice for your own personal use."

I have a legal question. I am a Veteran Kj of 24 years now. I have been a customer of your for 3 years. I am using your songs in my Karaoke shows. As of Jan 2012, I am being audited by Sound Choice (aka Slep-tone Entertainment) I am okay with that as I am legal..I thought.

I am being told from several ppl that my downloads from you at Karaoke Version and Tricerasoft as well, are illegal. That I am not allowed to have these in my system and use these in my shows...huh??? I have never seen this information anywhere on your site, and I have looked. As far as Tricerasoft goes, they specifically cater to the professional Kj's and expect their media to be used in public and sell the professional Kj Hosting programs as well. I have their permissions.
Can you please enlighten me here. Am I in the wrong? Have I been misled and did I misunderstand? I have much money invested in your downloads and I am at a loss for words here.
Thanks for your time.

Dear Rick,

Thanks for contacting us.

If you have a written statement from Sound Choice saying that our downloads are illegal, please provide us with a copy.

I must say that karaoke-version operated by our company Recisio is one of the most legal companies in this field. We usually tolerate use of playbacks and karaokes purchased from our website for public performance in licensed venues. So I do not think that Sound Choise allegations are true.

Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have further queries.

Kind Regards,

FYI - to those reading this, One does not need to "archive" or back up anything from Karaoke version BECAUSE every time you buy a song file from them... KARAOKE VERSION saves the file download for you and at anytime you can go and retrieve the file again at your convienience if it is needed.
Archiving Karaoke version files is a Mute point.
----------------------------------------------------------------

SOOOO, I will now address your above statement. I mentioned that I have had several conversations with these ppl, not only at tricerasoft personally, BUT also with SUNFLY and SBI. I made it known that I know my rights and Know what I was told I can and can't do with these song files.
I also understand that one's word is never enough these days. No one here will ever believe anything I say anyways.

BUT Here is the Mail I received from Sunfly regarding my (me personally) Downloaded songs. I would not suggest anyone doing this JUST because I have these permissions. You should each seek your own written permissions from the Manufacturer yourself!!!!!!!

I have a email History with these ppl, they know me, my situations and my intent.

Hi Rick
Thanks for your email dated February 11.
To put your mind at rest, Tricerasoft are legitimately entitled to distribute our products as relevant publishing is paid by them. I will forward your email to Tricerasoft so they can reply and put the record straight in their own words. You can then share that with Sound Choice. I am sure Tricerasoft will be interested to see your email so they can communicate with Sound Choice and stop them from issuing inaccurate information about them.
Thanks

I have been buying form tricerasoft for a long time and I have a need to back up my song collection desperately. what permissions do I need from you and how can i get them? I would like to just copy my song collection to a simple Hard disc and archive it. I have lost several songs in the past and had to repurchase them, due to "computer crash or power outage, virus". what can I do at this point to make you at sunfly happy and stay legal.

Hi Rick
If you are simply just ''backing up' your collection in case of emergency then I hereby give you full permission to do so.
As long as that back up is not used in a commercial setting or sold on then there is no issue.

I sincerely hope that this information is enought to satisfy everyone here. It is not meant as a slap in the face, it is provided only because I was "called out" on the subject. I made the comment that I was "Archiving on Disc and HD" my Purchased and downloaded song files. I felt as though I was being accused of doing something wrong.
This was not the case and I had my bases covered...
I hope this sets to rest any more accusations of wrong doing on my part.
Please feel free to comment further in you feel the need to do so. I don't know what else I can share with you tho.
