No, I was talking the lights on the back line behind the singer facing out to the crowd.

What is the brand/model of the case/rack system you are using? I like the laptop riser.

Is it custom?

That's a very nice set-up! I too would be worried about the monitor on the dance floor, especially when your crowds get bigger. I can easily see a drunk swinging someone right into it or tripping over the leg on the tripod.
Do you use any of that built-in lighting?
Did you ask that guy to stop cupping your microphone?

Not yet, really. We are averaging about 12 singers and their friends, which in that place doesn't look like a lot of people, but each week it gets better. This is only my 6th week there. The acoustics are great, and its a lot of fun.

I like the setup, the room set up is very similar to a place I play. Certainly got that rock star effect!

I never liked my first video monitor set up, the top of the monitor covered the singer up their chin or so. So I now use a 2" high monitor holder. It is tilted towards the singer and now the singers are totally visual to the audience. Doesn't take much room and easy to transport. My monitor is always cradled in it during shows, transport and storage.

Looks like we use the same mixer and possibly stage monitor. I bought a couple mic holders on ebay a couple years ago and they are velcroed to my mixer shelf.

Yep koyote, I remember now. I should have recognized that it's bigger than my MG124CX. Also, my monitor holder is 2 foot tall, not 2 inches.

Do you use the touchpad on your laptop? I switched over to a mouse last April. Everything is a bit faster now. Nice lookin' laptop set up.

For the last several years I've been playing small bars, and the larger venues were private parties and weddings. The Mallet has allowed me to do my full set up, and provide the ULTIMATE karaoke experience (at least in my area). Full stage, 3000 watt sound system, band style stage lighting, pin spots on the singer, and so forth. Here are some pictures of my set up I thought I'd share. Rockin' Out! Nice setup, love the QSC speakers - If I didn't already have all my amps, that would've been the way I went. I'd probably opt to put the monitor (both visual & audio) on stage, as it looks like that is a dancing area in the spot you have it. I would probably also not aim the back line of lights straight out, but more down toward the stage and to the sides so as to not go directly into the eyes of people watching.

Yeah. I wrestled with putting the monitors on the stage or on the dance floor for a time, and decided on this way, as the par cans are a bit warm, and didn't want the singers getting too close... and the dance floor is large enough... so I went with this. Also, at this level, the video monitor doesn't block the singer from the audience, and I wanted them to be able to face front, and not be looking to the side. The lights are aimed down to the dance floor, each one spotting a different place on the floor, so the entire thing gets hit with light... and they blink in pairs, so there is constantly light on the floor. I also have two sparkles, on on each end, also aimed at the floor.

The Tripod is pretty stable, and In places much smaller I haven't had a problem, so we'll see what happens. If it gets that crowded, i'll worry about it then... . No... the only lighting I'm using is my own. And no, when they cup the mic, I turn my mids to level, and that takes care of it, and he wasn't over cupping really, and sounded pretty good, so it wasn't hard to adjust for his mic handling.

That is a very nice set up I too would worry about the monitor on the dance floor...at least after you get bigger crowds there. I'm lucky at my main gig... the stage is raised about 16" and there are light racks (scaffolding ) above the dance floor, I have my dance lights up there with parcans pointing onto the stage, my tv monitor is mounted up there also... it works out really well because the singer actually looks like they're looking at the audience instead of at a tv. The tv is left there even though I do tear down my equipment. The laptop riser is essential! I use one that we custom made from plywood, painted it black but I still cover it with a cloth. It's about four feet long so I put all the computer cords, my fan, old signups etc. under it. I use a desktop so the keyboard & monitor are the only things on top of the riser, it's a nice clean look . I bet you have big crowds there soon! I'd go

very nice! Is that QSC sub on the stage? Do you have any problems with too much bass on stage for your singers? That is a problem that we are struggling with. using one Sub with a main speaker above it and bass washes back onto stage often. using a floor monitor we can raise the music volume and mics but with a singer that doesn't sing loud or use good mic technique we have to lower monitor volume to boost mic w/o feedback. Thanks for the pics. Nice to see how others are setup.

nice setup, and everything looks so neat and organized.. This was always my biggest problem when i was setting up. No matter how carefully I tried, it always came out looking like a horrid mess.

Everyone says I've got the best sound of any karaoke guy/ gal they've ever heard, and as I go around to sing at different shows I tend to agree. I'm a bit spoiled by my own setup... and so are my singers. I get a joking, "Darn you Koyote, we can't go anywhere else, because it doesn't sound as good." All the time. I have a microphone stand for the stage... the shure foam works for me... i don't know why, but the foam keeps the mics from rolling, getting banged up, and the mics are kept handy. I've had the same screens for over a year with no dents! I think we talked about this a year or so ago, Rip... I have the Yamaha MG166cx. Its a bit big, but the only one that really has all the must have features: On board effects, sweeping midrange for the mics, mic cut, digital compression, mic gain, monitor output, and a few other things. People tell me they've got a mixer that does all that with a lot less channels and more compact, but when i look up the model online its always missing something, so I just gave up looking.

Nice lookin' laptop set up. its hard to see in the picture, but i use a ball mouse... move the thing with my thumb, and don't need any room on the table to move it... and I assumed it wasn't 2 inches... would love to see a picture of it.
