Well there's good and bad to say about importing the Gem. It loads quickly about 2 min a disc. However, whoever named the files was high on something. This is a typical file.
10076-07_-_Does_My_Ring_Burn_Your_Finger_-_ Lee_Ann_Womack.mp3.
I'll have to edit each and every track...

Use KJ File Manager, it can make the process a lot easier and faster. Saves you a lot of time and headaches!

i'm a computer tech and i've seen problems with mass transfering of files causing them to be bad. and that's usually a system that needs to be rebooted for whatever reason. crap i've even had that problem with my own system!

so just because he says they are good, unless he physically checked them then there is no garranty they were not bad in the first place...

just another know it all trying to cover his (@$%&#!)!!!

this is for everyone!!! - if you one of those people that never turn off your computer, then your gonna have problems especially if it's window "any version".

reboot your systems once a day or at least every couple days.

Can't ANYONE answer a post without busting horns? Seriously? PyleDriver and I disagree on bunches of stuff, but I don't do what was done here.

Wiz, he's even on your "side" in many threads. Why not just offer a solution without the added insult? Why add the "know it all" bit? It doesn't help, and only adds friction....

There's nothing wrong with the recordings. It's just going to take alot more time to get it how I want for my database...There's no mass transfer like CB. These are CD's with 30 mp3+g each...

Funny I had a HP Desktop that ran 24hrs a day for 10 years and only rebooted with windows updates and restarted after power failures and never had a problem with it. I finally retired it when it became to slow for my needs but still runs and use it when ripping music or other tasks I don't want to wait on my main computer to do.

Here you go, my friend. Just transfer all of your files, and then use this program to rename them all in any format you want. It only takes a couple of minutes. Its free

http://www.debssoftware.com/renamer.html

For example you can turn: 10076-07_-_Does_My_Ring_Burn_Your_Finger_-_ Lee_Ann_Womack.mp3

into SC10076-07 - Womack, Lee Ann - Does My Ring Burn Your Finger

+1. That's what I use(d).

It's a great tool to have anyway, regardless if you are a GEM user or not.

What is wrong?
I don't know about the GEM series as far as renaming. I heard they are kind of messed up in that regard.
What's this about your current KMA tracks? Probably will need to rebuild the database.

So will the KJ file manager rename KMA files?

I don't know about what KJ File Manager does - I believe it only works with mp3g tracks. There is no reason to rename the KMA files as Hoster adds them to it's searchable database.

I was talking renaming the GEM before adding them to Hoster so Hoster can import them properly to it's database as well.

I have them in the database already and they search and play fine. I just have to take out all those dashes before I print our new book and was looking for a short cut...

You would need to rename the mp3g files to remove those dashes before importing to Hoster (or any program). That is the main problem i've heard about the GEM is the way they named the files.

Use Lupas Rename to replace "_" with "space". Done in a heart beat. I have used KJ file manager since the very early days, and I still use Lupas for certain functions and this would be one of them.
