Micky, The problem with that idea is that karaoke licences normally are only for a certain number of years and must be renewed to remain active. I doubt that a "orphan brand" would still have active licencing. However someone could track down an purchase (perhaps) the trademark if it were still active ( Anyone could purchase the pioneer parrot trademark if they wanted to now...cheap). The fact that Tricerasoft sells MM is ONE of the reasons I personally find them untrustworthy but each host must determine the level of liability they wish to accept. Well Tricerasoft DOES claim they have paid for licensing on every track, I just find it hard to swallow. |

Lonman, Well Tricerasoft does CLAIM they have paid for licensing on every track, I just find it hard to swallow. Love the statement...just changed the emphasis a bit.....  Also they do not state U.S. licencing. Being a Canadian company is very similar to being a U.K company...the licencing in those countries does not apply here....Wish I was ignorant  Bright Blessings Athena |

If you play their tracks, who is going to come after you? I can play some of all of them because I have the discs, but what is stopping anybody from using downloaded versions without the discs in their possession? |

If MM never paid for licensing in the first place and went out of business, anyone can use the MM backing and simply do it right by paying licensing and say they are legal, right? And BTW, Karaoke-Version also have the full MM catalogue but with their own logo  I think they figured they could use something that already exist and pay for licensing...

But shouldn't that also apply for some SC tracks where licensing was never paid... or should I say produced with out permission but sold to honest people at full price

Mickey, It is my opinion that they are not reputable...but that is only my opinion. Also the rules in Canada differ quite a bit than those in the U.S. As you are in Canada you are not bound by the same laws we are. Tricerasoft may have licencing valid for Canada but after educating myself I know that the licencing is not valid for the U.S. (directly from the department of homeland security IP division) Again sometimes ignorance is bliss....and at times I wish I had not researched some things in depth.....I long to be able to purchase some brands that had I not educated myself so deeply I could  Blessings Athena |

....I have no idea who owns them but maybe you should be more concerned about who owns the Trademark? Who knows? Maybe someone has purchased their trademark for reasons unknown? |

Willametteduck, I also play the MM tracks that I own 1-1 discs for and do not worry. I however would never rick playing ANY download. This is just my decision after looking into the entire download situation. Again I advise EVERY host to educate themselves and decide what level of liability to accept and be willing to accept the outcomes if the time comes to pay the piper. Blessings Athena |

Based on the settlements that require a purchase of the gem series, and the number of settlements to date, the old warehouse should be looking pretty empty. |

Not buying downloads is kicking yourself in the nuts. The singers don't care if you stole every song you have. I know because I have brought up piracy, when I know of companies claiming 100,000 song libraries. They will go somewhere that has the songs, or will buy them, if they know they are available. They don't want to hear about some licensing crap keeping you from making a $2-$3 purchase to give them what they want. |

Karaokegod73, Since we have educated our singers , we have not found forgoing downloads to be a kick in the nuts or anywhere . Having been in the "Biz" for over 18 years our selection is very good on each of our systems and our customers know we will do our best to get them legally sold music as quickly as we can on disc. Not judging anyone who wishes to do otherwise...just not a liability I am willing to take at this time:read: Blessings Athena |
