Ok, so I bought huge amounts of cds for awhile, that worked until the % of dupes climbed up to about 70% out of my average new purchases towards the end. Then I started buying all new PHM cds including their switch to MP3. Then the KJMP from CB.

Not sure what is going to happen with the KJMP at this time, I've pulled my few hundred credits from online, at the worst I should still be able to use them on the current CB songs. CB hasn't offered any more credits and won't answer emails. Surprised they didn't do a garage sell of credits before the @$*% hit the fan.

Compuhost is giving me the impression that they will have new music to add to the KJMP in the near future, not sure what near is, who the manu/s will be or what kind of songs at what kind of price.

In the meantime, looks like I'll be going back to PHM although I've heard that some of the other manus are making good stuff. Anyone care to educate me on them?

KJ buddy of mine called me earlier, he just recently purchased the KJ Media Pro HD and said that CB called him offering to sell him additional credits at a discount. Initially he said he wasn't interested, but I encouraged him to call them back to find out what kind of deal they were offering. I'll post more when I know more.

Since I'm not hosting I'm not buying as much as I'd like to be. I like All Star Karaoke have been buying quite a bit of their stuff as it's available to me locally. (i.e. Walmart & Hastings) For the most part I like em. Tricerasoft has some good tracks available as well if your interested in downloads.

I also have been using a lot more ALL-STAR mostly customs as the price has been very low and the quality is respectable, they however do have a limited selection by comparison to some other companies.

They haven't been around quite as long as others.

Missed a call from them this afternoon regarding credits. I called back and had to leave a message.

Got that call from CB.

Gambled today that Compuhost is going to take care of me. Even if I can only pull from the current CB library, I got a good deal. I now have 1162 credits for the KJMP.

I think they have been around since Top Tunes disappeared, that's pretty long

Which way to go with new music. Probably going to go with PHM, but I really wish SC would get off their (@$%&#!) and start making new music again. I would go with Sunfly if it didn't take two weeks to get their discs.

I don't like All-Star's graphics.

I have been on PHM's Monthly Autoship since July of 2011. I don't think I have played a single track in that set. i know that every month I look at the discs for something interesting and every month it has been......meh.

I've only been with their monthly releases since Nov and not ONE song has been sung from them. Dropping them after this next release.

And I stopped purchasing PHM (both Pop and Country) because they're not putting out any mainstream songs that I've been hearing on the radio... I don't even recognize (more than) half the songs they are putting out on their current discs. My last disc purchases from them are from October 2011.

Someone came to one of my shows with their own PHM disc from December 2012, and I couldn't even play it on my machine (I wrote about this problem in a different topic thread).

The June releases have at least some recognizable artists, but only a few songs i've actually seen played on radio.

heh - I don't recognize hardly any of the artists anymore. I am pretty well insulated from pop music these days. I don't have cable or satellite and I only listen to NPR in the car anymore. My daughter shares her Zune playlist with me so I scan through that occasionally to find music to play inbetween karaoke tracks. Most of the time i can just call up my Pandora "Deadmau5" station and be just fine for the night.

To me, it is a part of the business to keep track. It is sort of a game for me to see what is popular and already have it before someone asks for it. Although I am of the 60s era, I like to find new songs to sing also, just to stir things up a bit. If it isn't in the budget to buy everything that comes out then it takes research combined with knowing your area to make sure you have the songs people are going to want.

Or, you could keep a notebook, and when people ask for something you don't have write it down, and if it is available buy it. I have already done that, using Tricerasoft on the fly. I have two laptops. One is my show rig and the other is to download songs, if need be.

We do that, too. It's a combination of being guided and guiding to keep things fresh and interesting.

One of the reasons I quit buying their stuff. Too many huh? songs. I pick up near every song that hits the four major billboard charts for the DJ version as soon as they hit the top 40 (top 25 rock and top 30 in country) on billboard, so I always know what is hot and they (phm) just aren't hitting it. If I'm going to buy new releases, they at least need to be mainstream.

You could take a look at Karaoke Kurrents and All Country Kurrents- made by SuperCore. Good quality, good prices. The thing is to watch out for dupe discs, which they are famous for. Also, be advised that this manufacturer is probably the most counterfeited out there. Check the graphics, the mfr. code on the inner ring, etc.

The counterfeits are truly awful
