WillowPiper1945,
I haven't seen a complete set of DK in years. I have heard that the millenium sets are DK however and they are available on ebay and amazon...maybe they will fit your needs?

This past week there were at least 6 purported full 1-99 DK sets listed in various cities around the US on Craigslist. I bought two of them. One of which I received this morning and the other I will pick up on my drive back home from Portland on Friday.

Just have to be be diligent and patient.....

They are Super CDGs. Volume 1 is $68 for 905 songs, and volume 2 is $70 for 910 songs.

You can still find complete sets of DK1-99 on ebay every now and then. I've seen them go anywhere from $500 to $1500. For some reason the millenium sets seem to go for a little bit less, don't know why since they are about 80% the same music, just arranged differently.

Wouldn't that be why the Millenium sets are selling for less... because they have less songs than DK 1-99?

Willowpiper... I just sent you a PM with a URL to a sale of DK 1-99.

They have about the same number of songs give or take a couple. 1-99 had 18 songs per disc while the other had 15 songs per disc on 115 discs. The Millenium set had a lot of songs that weren't available on the orig. 1-99. One of the things I like about the later set is how it was grouped by genre, era or artist. Title wise they are about 80% the same.

Anyone know how to rip Super CDGs?? What program is needed and is there a free program that can do it? I don't want to pay for any program since there are only two of these disks.

DK was never released on SCDG. They went out of business before CAVS introduced SCDG. Those are pirated and before you get all defensive, yes they are sold in many places but none of the reputable karaoke stores or Amazon or anyone else that is not a third party seller.

[edit] I should clarify. You can find it from a few people that sell on amazon, but not from amazon itself. They know better. Also, the sellers that do offer it usually only have a couple hundred ratings and the names of the places are not on anyone's top ten list of karaoke stores.

Well, there is nobody to bother me about using them, since DK is no longer, though I have read that DK is alive and well in Japan.

They aren't sold through Amazon?? REALLY?? That's funny, that's just where I ordered Vol 1.

again I say, that is a third party seller. it is not amazon. That is someone who sells ON amazon. and if anyone thinks they can pay $120 for the complete DK set and it's legal they are kidding themselves.

You're probably right. and they ARE alive and well in Japan. I heard there is at least one company in negotiations to represent their copyright interests in the U.S. so some people may be in for a shocker.

Well we have seen how well that worked with the UK mfrs. They wanted no part of it. I'm sure a Japanese company won't be bothered either. While an American company can do investigations, they can't file suit on behalf of a foreign country.

DK is alive and well in Japan, the Millenium series are not from DK themselves, just someone using the DK name, and the SCDG's are already encoded at 128kps.
anything else.

Is there anyone looking to sue people using them??

Who knows. Maybe the people who made these discs actually got in touch with DK and GOT permission to make the discs. Who is to say that they didn't? Just because you didn't read about it in a news paper, or on a website doesn't mean they have no permission. I am buying them in good faith for use at my shows. What a person sells a product for does not make it legal or illegal.

Smoothedge, if i were you, I'd do what you think is best for YOUR business. I personally bought the Millenium Series 1 and 2 on SCDG. The easiest way to rip them that I've found, is with Power Karaoke Super cdg Ripper. I bought it along with Power Karaoke. To ME, it was money well spent. It's not the ORIGINAL 1-99, but who cares, it's a bunch of good versions, of good songs. The newer songs that are on the millenium series are Supercore. I've been using these songs for over a year now, and NOONE has come up to me and said "I don't like that version, it was only ripped at 128 bps. :) I guess what I'm saying is, it works for ME, but you have toi be the judge if it's right for you.

I have the original 1-32 DK discs, and am looking to expand, but I'm not sure why, other than an investment. i always default to SC in my shows, and I haven't had time to research what DK songs I have are not available in SC.
