Both include rare versions of "I Will Always Love You".

1) Chartbuster CBDD02 Demo Disc: I believe this disc has the male version as heard by Houston's character in the movie, but the artist is simply listed as "Unknown".

2) Bright Spark Karaoke BSK005, which includes a dance version by Shot In The Dark

Joe:why not just use the version written by Dolly Parton? If memory serves correctly, that is the version they used for the movie, a guy just happened to be singing it

Thanks James, but I tried that. They're close, but there are timing differences. I was hoping the singer could adapt, but no luck so far.

If you don't already have the disc, how do you know that there are differences?

I just dug my CB Demo disc out of the closet and when it plays; it says in the style of Whitney Houston

As for the differences, I have heard both versions on non-karaoke tracks.

However, you may have solved at least part of my problem. If your CB demo disc is CBDD02 ( keeping in mind that it's also on 3 other CB demo discs- CBSP3, CBPR09, and VPCB09) and it is in WH's style, then that tells me that- though listed as "Unknown Artist", it is NOT the male version.

I thank you for the info, though it puts me back at square one.....

Sometimes the singer has to adjust and sing it the way it was made and not the way he wants to sing it. If he wants to sing it "HIS WAY" maybe he needs to sing with his own band.

Your customer wants to sing a particular version of a song and he doesn't even know who did it that way. Seems like a real PITA to me.

Oh he is, believe me- but he brings in a bunch of folks from his office ( he's the boss) so I put up with him and try to accomodate...

and that BSK version is a dance tempo version. I doubt that it is the one that the OP was looking for.

I was actually looking for both, Bruce, for two different patrons. I still haven't found the male version, and probably never will. my patron will have to adjust to the Dolly version or take a pass, I guess.

I actually have a CB DEMO-02 disc, still in shrink wrap. It lists the artist as Whitney Houston on the reverse side artwork. I tried to find a stock photo on google, but no luck. these were given away in some mail orders, as well as with new karaoke machines sold at CB's retail store in the early 2000's. I could take a pic later if you'd like to see it.

I know you probably don't want to deal with downloads but I found a couple of male versions at karaoke version.

I thank you Danny, though you are right about the downloads. However, do you know the producers of the male versions? They may have produced discs.

He said they were from Karaoke-Version. All of their tracks are Karaoke-Version brand, they don't sell other manus.
