Any particular cause or method of preventing pops and clicks coming from cd player? Never had this problem before. My software has a program to minimize this, but never needed it till now. Not sure why it started all of a sudden. Nothing different except that I added new speakers a few days ago...

What player? Analogue or pc? Software? Os? Do you get pops in head phones out of mixer? ? Pops & clicks during playback can be caused from buffer transitions resourses getting low... need more info....

One of the first indication of blown speakers is popping during heavy bass.....

Pops and clicking coming from an auxillary cd player... a cheapie I've always used with no problems. Speakers play online music very well... no pops or hiss or anything, and are quite powerful. They are Logitech 680 and seem pretty awesome (I'm still new at this so haven't heard many to compare)... Before that was some $40 Radio Shack speakers. Have an Audigy external sound card, but never had problems with that either. Everything's digital, I think. Maybe there is a setting or something I'm missing -- maybe for the new speaker hook-up?
Thanks for your replies and requests for more info...
I also tried recording without the speakers -- headphones only. There was clicking during playback only, didn't hear the pops and clicking as I was recording.
